    Date:- 27 July 2019

Pre-shave:- Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush:- Edwin Jagger Synth. v2.0 Silvertip Fibre Faux Horn 25/58mm knot
    Soap/Cream:- Wickham 1912 ~ Classic 24
    Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Razor/Blade:- Karve CB SS 'D' / Vintage NOS Gillette Super Stainless (spoiler) #1
Post/After-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Natural Glycerin (20), Tea Tree Antiseptic (10), Lavender (15) & Peppermint (10 drops)
Fragrance:- Dolce&Gabbana The One for Men

Both Karve 'Christopher Bradley' in Brass and Stainless Steel is a real keeper in my den for life. The stainless steel top cap feels smoother than the brass, I'm not too overly fuss about that, however, the quality of the shave is FANTASTIC with the stainless steel which is less heavy than the brass version and the balance of the stainless steel is also fantastic in my hand.

I'm very very happy to have both Karve 'Christopher Bradley' in Brass and Stainless Steel, every penny is worth it. Trust me! go ad get yourself a Karve 'Christopher Bradley' in Brass or Stainless Steel of your choice.

    Razor - Merkur 1904
Blade - Shark Super Stainless *3rd Shave
Shave Brush - Everyman Jack Synthetic
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Shave Soap - Catie's Bubbles "Florentine Fern" *Luxury Cream Formula
Suribachi Lather Bowl handmade by Of the Dirt Pottery
    Aftershave - Booster "Mosswood"
Post-Shave Balm - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Mysterium Serum"
    Deodorant - Jason "Forest Fresh"
Fragrance - CLIVE CHRISTIAN 1872 for Men

***EDIT - 2 passes + extensive clean up. Quasi-BBS. A scant few spots retained a tad bit of grain-feel. The great thing about the Merkur 1904 is that it pretty much prevents you from taking a bad angle or nicking yourself (you have to 'really' screw up to get a bleeder with this razor). The bad thing about this razor is that it doesn't allow you to take risky angles that would lead to BBS on certain extreme-leaning grain growth. The cool thing about our shave hobby is being able to push that edge. Take the risk. Chase the BBS if we're feeling crafty. I pay for these risks more often than they pay off, but hey, I want that capability in the razor to make the choice. The Merkur 1904 is a great razor to use as a dumb-reach when you're not feeling 100% in the morning and you would screw up even basic movements. I like a sharp blade in it such as the Feather or a Shark Super Stainless to try to squeeze out the most aggression from this tame razor as I can get.

I have to admit, I got a great shave. The scent of the shaving set is great. I think Florentine Fern is such an underrated gem of a scent. IMO, it's the #1 'fern' interpretation in existence. Tart, green with a touch of cedar wood and an every so slight hint of sweetness. I think Chris Cullen has a remarkable talent. I heard he is batching another round of Florentine Fern shaving soap. I plan to buy a few as backups. This is a fantastic shave soap scent to pair with Clive Christian 1872. And I hope to maybe get an EDP of Florentine Fern for Fall season use.

    Today double test...
    1. The Polsilver Iridium on a known razor as the previous shave had not been conclusive.
Unconsciously I keep comparing with the Wizamet!
And, on top of this, I had a very short growth today.

    2. The White Unknown balm, designed to sooth any razor burn: great, but... having no burn i could not judge!
On top of this I had been asked to alter my routine, using the balm first and the alcoholic kick after!
I can't get along with this! I need my alcohol immediately after the shave.

    Pears Glycerine Soap

Mühle R41 (2011) with a SuperMax Blue Diamond Platinum
    Alum and Rinse
    Witch Hazel
    Mitchell's Unperfumed Moistuiser
Heno de Pravia Agua de Colonia

2 passes for a perfect finish with only a little sting from the alum. I wouldn't call it a perfect shave as I was a little bit 'on edge'. Its ages since I last used this razor and I was just pleased it finished with no 'mishaps'.

Enjoy the weekend. At least for me.....the temperatures are more bearable!

    Simple Saturday

    • Razor: Gillette Contour
    • Blades: NOS Gillette Contour plus (#5)
    • Soap: Proraso green
    • Brush: Omega Boar
    • A/S: Chanel Allure
    • Mug: Awesome
    [IMG]

Well, this started off as a simple one-pass Saturday shave. However, one pass didn't do much so it ended up being a typical cartridge shave of one pass followed by 1/2 hr of touch ups

I did a bowl lather today as well (i never do that, i am a strict FL'er) and i was surprised at just how easy it was to get a good peak. I never have issues loading or lathering soap and Italian croaps are not an exception. A barely damp brush swished about the soap for a dozen or so revolutions get me fully loaded (no blooming!). No Marco (!?) methods here.

Again, I used the 1st swish of the brush as a pre shave whilst i did my other stuff.

The Contour is a fantastic razor tbh. Such a joy to use. Its just a pity that a multi blade cartridge shaves as it does.

Lovely shave (eventually) though. No nicks or A/S sting although i will be watching for bumps later on.

Of course, the Chanel A/S is magnificent. :)

How many laps on the Arkie, Karl? (Can I assume it was a hard stone?) Did you use mineral oil as a lubricant? Thanks.
