    A Very Vintage Shave

    Razor: 1949 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade: Rapira SS
Soap and A/S: 1950's Yardley shaving set.
    Brush: Vulfix Old Original boar.

1st use of the new Aristocrat today, so to celebrate a wonderful razor, i broke out one of my most favorite and vintage soap and A/S.

Super shave as well. The brush isn't a lather hogger so a swirl on the puck was needed at each pass. The soap is fantastic. Vintage Yardley is as good as it gets and this puck still has bags of scent. The A/S is also the best of my (limited) vintages. Frank Sinatra's favourite as well iianm.
The razor was a delight to use. Heavy! This razor has heft. Very efficient. A little more refined and smoother than the English mk4 heads but not quite so aggressive. (Shades of grey here tbh)
A very british shave tbh. The knurling was a delight to hold as well. Keen enough for grip but not too much that its a distraction. One area the mk 4's are better is the friction lock when loading the blade. Nothing wrong with the mk3 mind and it stayed shut for my 3 passes, but the mk4 just feels "right".*

Fantastic shave and a great start to my day :)

    * I shall do a mk3/mk4 comparison shave at some point...

    Cold Water Rinse
    Fine Snake Bite Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #18 Silvertip
    RazoRock Black Hawk
    Feather Professional
    CWR
    Osage Rub

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Fine Snake Bite Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #18 Silvertip brush. I did two passes with the RazoRock Black Hawk razor with a Feather Professional blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This is the finest "modern" razor I own. It provides a quick, smooth, and effecient shave. No nicks, cuts, or abrasions. +10

Coate’s Lime Cream today. 20 seconds to load the Knotsinyourhead/Whipped Dog Silvertip brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Vintage Gillette Platinum Plus still in the Gillette Slim. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Country Club Frozen Vetiver aftershave.

This soap has not a summer fragrance: too warm, notwithstanding delicious!

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/new Rapira
    Bundubeard Kameelperd’s Kick SS
    Prep ASB
    B&M Arctique AS Splash

Besides air conditioning which is an absolute necessity here in Montreal during our summers what could be more enjoyable than a good frigid shave with an awesome soap like the Kameelperd? Hell, this is what I call the South African answer to any of the Stirling Glacial soaps. It’s 250 grams of intense menthol goodness with some of the thickest, richest lather I ever saw and such a beautiful scent along with fabulous skincare. The Prep is hard to beat or even match for its postshave care and the Arctique aftershave has a lovely scent as well as the most lethal menthol sensation on Planet Earth. Thanks to the new Rapira I had a perfect three pass BBS shave! B964320A-2FB3-48D3-B848-C77BD31FE40D.jpeg

Thx Alfredo. If it was fragrant enough for Winston Churchill, it is really top shelf for this Texan.
