My God is this Absolute Zero soap ever a menthol atom bomb and so is the matching aftershave toner. My dear friend Abir in Kolkata, India is such a nice young fellow and he’s also an extremely talented artisan. This particular soap has a really nice aquatic scent, it’s vegan based, it lathers like a champ, the menthol sensation is killer cold just like any of the Stirling Glacials, and it gives a wonderfully comfortable postshave feeling. The Prep delivered so generously on the additional care that I needed, and the Absolute Zero aftershave toner gave me a MONSTROUS freeze along with more moisturizing. Last but not least the Bleu de Chanel’s gorgeous fragrance that I love so much and I’m good to go. Three glorious passes gave me a dynamite BBS shave that was so much fun!

The Ingram Shave Cream lathered well with the Jayaruh #434 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the English Ever-Ready Razor and a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Shave of the Week Starting 3 July 2023

Couldn't decide which brush I wanted to use this week so I'll alternate these two. The Franken brush is an "old" VDH badger brush handle with a TGN Silvertip knot. VDH had badger brushes back in the day but they were really bad, the knot sucked but I like the handle so I changed knots and now it's a good one. Just don't use natural brushes that much anymore. Maybe time to change my approach. The other brush is from AP Shave Co and has a cashmere knot. Very nice. The Mama Bear Lime Ice Shave Stick works very well and is frigid! The Star razor is a great one for me, always a smooth/comfortable/effective shave that I like. So my face is happy. Go enjoy your day folks.

 

awesome brush and bowl.still use my cc bowl daily,the brush has been a stable mate for years.great knot.

 

Thank you very much Gary! I purchased the cc bowl about 18 months ago and have used it almost every day since. That Omega brush cost me about $15.00 at Shoppers Drug Mart and I totally agree. Incredible performer well above it's weight!

MMMonday, July 3rd, 2023. Micromatic Monday, any ASR razor that uses a Gem blade any day of the week!

Razor : Gem Junior 1912 parade with baton handle variant- Mfg 1943, Tame mid range, will built and designed with this very interesting tapered plastic handle that is self standing and a joy to use. Close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(8) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest razor blade to handle.
Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild rose cream, nice rose scent 5-6 /10 strength with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Bali"24mm 3band silvertip, excellent lather generator, luxury pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Italian barber Amici AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my Gem Jr 1912 with a coated Gem blade. Had a great comfortable shave this morning with no issues.

Travel Shave Experiment

Razor: Electric Braun S3
Soap: Cremo Coconut Mango
Brush: Trafalgar T3 (with travel tube)

Traveled a few times with traditional shaving equipment including DE razor, blades, shave soap, brush, etc. and found it rather inconvenient. This razor is wet/dry and damp brush was used to create a light lather on a wet face. Yes, you can lather Cremo a little bit. If while shaving skin starts to feel dry or sticky just dip razor under water and keep going. Clean up was also a breeze with hot water and equipment dried quickly. This is my new travel combo!
