Shave of the Week Starting 15 July 2024

    Gillette Tech razor
    Bic Astor blade
    Maggard Synthetic brush
    TSD 2X Iced Lemongrass SS
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    TSD 2X Iced Lemongrass A/S

My face is frozen! In a good way though. It's been about a year since I used this soap, guess that's part of the curse of having so much stuff. Anyway, a great shave was had. Now go enjoy your day folks.

Razor : Gem Damaskenne open comb. Mfg 1914-17, mild to tame mid range. Excellent stamping, coatings + QC for that time period. The 1914 and similar following 1914 variants is what helped ASR corporation get through the dirty 30's great depression period. Had a wonderful close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(3) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely , predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock M.F. croap, nice cologne fragranced with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi " Lucky dice" 26mm tuxedo knot. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock M.F splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=[IMG] Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem Damaskenne with a coated Gem blade.

    3rd Week of July Setup
Pre-shave: Face brush-washed with VdH Natural brush and Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Razor: Gillette Slim, setting 9
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum, shave 1
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Mango Sunrise
    Brush: Stirling Pro-Handle Synthetic
    After-shave: Aqua Velva Ice Sport

My box of Stirling goodies arrived today...so it just naturally had to be the Setup Of The Week!

Brush-washing with the Metholated Pre-Shave soap was refreshing and delightful. I came close to building up a shave-worthy lather, and would've tried it as a shave soap today if not for the new tub of Glacial Mango Sunrise sitting on the vanity...

The Pro-Handle brush face-lathered the Glacial Mango Sunrise soap to perfection once I got the hydration sorted out. It took a lot more water to do the job than my RazoRock Snowman synth would require. The Pro-Handle knot also doesn't have as much backbone as the Snowman. In the hand, the Pro-Handle felt just right ergonomically, and it didn't get fumbly when lather got on the handle. On the face, the Pro-Handle feels wonderfully soft and luxurious. I'm calling it a winner!

And the soap? Simply marvelous. The Astra SP was a fitting test for a new soap, as I tend to get less-than-smooth shaves from that blade. Today's shave, however, was as smooth as butter. Initially trying the SP blade with the Slim set on setting 5, after a few swipes I opened it up all the way to setting 9 and got a wonderfully close and comfortable shave with no problems whatsoever. The menthol level was just perfect, too. I really didn't care for the fragrance of the soap in the tub, but quite enjoyed it once I lathered it up.

Aqua Velva Ice Sport doesn't pair well with many soaps/creams, but it's a wonderful match for the Glacial Mango Sunrise soap.

That TSD 2X Menthol Iced Lemongrass soap looks intriguing...if you happen to use Stirling's Glacial soaps, how does the menthol compare?

Eventually, I'd like to go to a rotation of four mentholated soaps for the summer: two with fruity scents, and two with fragrances that are fresh and clean, but not fruity. I'm seeing lots of worthy candidates while watching this thread.

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave,

    (Face & Head Shave.)

A cool relaxing combined face & head shave.

The new assertive Feather Hi Stainless paired together with the mild Wilkinson Sword Classic continues to perform wonderfully mowing through my face & head stubble with effortless ease. I find using short strokes with this razor & rinsing it more more regular in-between each pass makes the razor perform excellently.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

The only mentholated Stirling soaps I've used are Margareta in the Artic and Glacial Orange. Comparing to TSD, hmmm, different formulations but all of them work well. The scents for the Stirlings I've tried were strong enough and lasting enough for me. I can't comment on the other Stirling fragrances though

After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
