No pics for todays American themed shave.

Gillette SS '64 coupled with Astra SP (2) on a thin layer of Williams Mug lather. All finished of with Aqua Velva :)

All with the usual Nivea for Men Sensitive Facewash and the National Shaving Alum.

I went through the cupboard after buying a metal bowl to see what would fit. So, buy your metal bowl first and the rest is easy. Many stores sell mugs for $1 or so. Make sure to micro-wave the mug with water and not the metal bowl or sparks will fly and avoid mugs with metallic designs....voice of experience with microwave fireworks:happy068:

Grabbed the slant bar & with only two passes got a very close shave—2 minor throat weepers due to my haste. Still a very nice DFS in a hectic morning!
Mem is a great shave cream, by the way!

    Semogue 820 Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Florida Water Cologne

Most of the later Gillette Tech's are very mild (too mild for my tastes) but, the thirties (little more aggressive) Fat Handled Tech, loaded with a sharp blade such as a Feather, can deliver a very nice, smooth and comfortable shave. The ROB and Florida Water seems to pair very well; very nice shave!

    Thursday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: Beeline Boar
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Dorco 300 (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water splash, Nivea For Men Energy ASB
Cologne: Gigember Estragon by Dr. Vranjes

Skipped yesterday's shave, what with one thing and another. As before, one side of the Dorco 300 was as smooth as I could hope for, and the other seemed mildly sandblasted. My face is more irritated than I'd been expecting lately, and I'm not attributing that to skipping the WH. DFS+ otherwise, in terms of closeness.

I used an artisan soap today. It's not something I normally take a chance on, but for some odd reason this soap kept popping up on my radar, so I took a chance on it. It's produced by a maker who labels it as "Another Good Creation" and is a typical melt and pour scented soap (my puck is called Absolutely Apples and smells great, but fades quickly). It's ok, it was worth the money that I spent and it smells nice, but it's nothing spectacular. I would place it slightly above Col. Conk soaps, but slightly below Pyrate Cove.

I did a three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a cold water rinse and some SAL Alum. The RiMei with a Gillette Super Thin blade, on its second shave, was very gentle on my healing skin. I should be ok to return to the Gillette Super Thin blade and a more aggressive razor tomorrow. It was a middle of the road shave, which was what I needed today.

I've never paired my FH Tech with a feather, however you've given me incentive to try it. It's probably my favorite Gillette razor—which surprised me considering I've tried (and sold) a good deal of the old Gillettes (adjustables, SSs, OCs, Slims & fat boys) & the humble 'tech' seems to provide my favorite shaves. :) My son is currently enjoying using it. I need to get it back!

Yep Kevin, it's smooth as silk with a Feather Blade! We, (of the advanced RAD afliction) have a lot of different razors but, if all a guy could have was a FH Tech, he could be perfectly happy for the rest of his days. I see your dilemma; I gave my Son my NDC SS when he wanted to change from the Cheese-Graters to traditional wet shaving so,.....I got another NDC SS for myself. My advise: BST threads or E-bay, let your Son enjoy! :D

A hot shower was the prelude to this great shave. This TOBS SC sure is nice. It doesn't take much to make a rich creamy lather. Today's shave was on a two day growth beard. I'm glad to get rid of it. This Shark has now seen its 10th shave and is still going strong.

I tried to come to terms with the scent of the AZ. I just don't care for it very much. I mean it's not horrible it just doesn't offer much besides cold for me. And I have other creams I like better that are cold enough.

Other than that it was a good shave. The Long Comb is killer, one of my favorites. I'm really liking this Barbasol AS too. I added some extra menthol to boost it's chillness and it is very nice now.

Not a very pleasant shave today. I don't know what it was, but my neck is kind of irritated in certain spots.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Face Wash, Alba Botanical Scrub.
    Brush: Oscar Grade A.
    Razor: '62 Slim.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
    Soap: Proraso White.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Lavender, Captain's Choice Lime (first time use.)

Guys, I don't know what happened today. If I were to make a guess, I would say the lather from the Proraso White was the culprit. It seemed like I had as stable of a lather as ever. I haven't used this product for a few months, so maybe I forgot what it took to get a successful lather with it. My neck has always been a pain to lather successfully on. The Captain's Choice is top notch though IMO. In the ingredients, it says alcohol is listed in there. Like most alcohol splashes, it will make you pay for lackluster shaves. This one however, did just the opposite. There was a mild sting that lasted for maybe a fraction of a second, then nothing. I also think that the Personna Lab blade I used was kind of rough compared to the other Lab blades I used. I kept getting weepers on my neck with this blade. That is the first Personna Lab blade that has given me weepers. It was nothing serious, but I still got rid of the blade after today's shave.
