After 12 hours in the sun yesterday I decided to go with a cooling menthol cream. Nice shave this morning. Hopefully the week is winding down but it's gonna be busy today. Have a good one.

This would have been a perfect set-up for a Menthol Monday Shave because every item is freezing-cold. The L'Oreal facial wash starts the ball rolling and the Egyptian version of Palmolive Menthol cream is easily as frigid as its Italian "cousin" and btw, I'm starting to enjoy it more than I did in the past and the Anherb conditioner and the Rubby Dubby Doo can make sure that your face won't thaw out until the evening. This shave was an absolute icy delight. ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

Darn near BBS. Don't know why I been reluctant to try these blades, as they are available locally at WalMart. Pretty darn good.

I just went through the same thought process. I had a pack of them floating around for close to a year, but never actually tried one. Popped one in yesterday expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. Not a bad blade at all. Even better that it is available locally.

I love the sting of a splash. I think it is my favorite part about the shave. That being said that's a first class bummer to learn that about the Captain's Choice Lime. All things being equal, sometimes if I have a little too much water on my hands or face before I go to splash it will marginalize the stinging sensation. I have CC Cat-O-Nine tails extra sting-y bay rum and it has a tendency to settle, maybe shake it? I know that was unsolicited advice, and sometimes people don't take to kindly to that, especially when the adviser is wrong. This is more so me coming to grips with hearing you opine that CC Lime isn't very good. Guess I'll cave in and buy another bottle of Stephan's Island Lime (fantastic if you need another lime). Just a bummer. I do, however, advise you to have an awesome weekend!!

    Friday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Dorco 300 (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: The Third Man by Caron

I shaved later than normal yesterday, so a 2-pass shave was sufficient for DFS results. This was fortunate, because the side of the Dorco 300 that had apparently been troublesome all along was DONE after two passes. In switching out the blade for tomorrow's Dorco 301 maiden voyage, I discovered the culprit; the 'stainless steel' razor had started to noticeably rust on one edge, after three shaves in four days. As this has been the only non-carbon blade to show this problem that I've found, I'm calling that a manufacturer's problem rather than a storage issue. Lesson learned.

    Brut Original Cologne

Inspired by Dale and Steve's comments about the Wally Wilkies I dug one out from it's hiding place in my shave cabinet and used it in the Milord this morning. Really great shave! The forties Super Speeds are awesome shavers. Very comfortable, smooth and efficient. (Even with the rusty tin can lid as a blade) lol
The Wilkies do an excellent job dispatching those pesky stubble and are good for 5-6 shaves for my use. Great blade for the price and being locally available.

I wasn't very clear in my assessment of the Lime. The C.C. Lime is very good. Fast forward 8 hours after the shave, my face is smooth, the irritation on my neck greatly toned down, and the scent comes and goes. And no, I didn't shake the bottle before I applied the Lime. So I implore you to buy the C.C. Lime. I've also heard that the Lime doesn't burn like the Bay Rum or Cat o' Nine Tails. So it's not that it's a crappy product.

    Friday
    • Prep: hot washing cloth, lather marinade while stropping the str8
    • Music: Philip Glass, Koyaanisqatsi
    • Brush: Travel King boar
    • Soap: Tabac
    • 1st pass razor (WTG): old brandless str8
    • 2nd & 3rd pass & touch-up: Rolls Razor
    • Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse

After honing and stropping the straight for a second time yesterday I tried Ggsixgun's shave test again this morning, but it failed yet again. Arm hair must be much less thick than facial hair. I completed the pass with the str8 for the sake of practice. I did most of the shave north to south again. Only the chin I did east-west. It felt good, although the razor needs some more sharpenin. The two following passes with the Rolls completed yet another excellent shave.

    TSD unscented lanolin soap
    Mühle black fiber synthetic brush
    Gillette fat handled Tech
    Gillette silver blue blade
    TSD unscented aftershave milk

First shave with my newly acquired fat handled Tech. This is my second one, and it is a beauty: the previous owner had it replated in bright gleaming nickel. Much heavier plating and higher gloss than the original plating on my other fat handled Tech. The shave was excellent, of course. Might need to wear sunglasses because of the shine!

I'll try to get a picture on the weekend.
