An amazing shave this morning using time tested, classic products.

Soap: ARKO (stick mashed into an empty Proraso Red soap container)
Brush: Omega 10086 boar (a small, but mighty performer. holds enough lather for 2 passes & touch-ups)
Razor: Fatip Grande (what's not to like? OC, smooth, efficient)
Blade: Personna Red (4th shave and going strong. smooth, sharp & consistent)
Aftershave: Proraso Green balm (too much sun the other day and the balm really soothes)

    Tabac~~Mühle~~Stirling~~Polsilver
In my search for the best blade/soap combination with my '11 R41 I am turning to the time-tested Tabac and a fresh Polsilver SI.
Yesterday, I was extremely disappointed with a FRESH Personna 74 Tungsten (one of the smoothest blades I know). Talk about rough!
I have a few tucks of Perma-Sharps underway, as well as a bottle of AOS Lavender Pre-shave oil. (Crazy, I had long abandoned pre-shave oils, but I had some eBay bucks to spend and scored a bottle of the original formula for $14 shipped.)
    I guess it can't hurt.

    Have a great day!

SOTD: Vintage 7/8" Near-Wedge from Frederick Reynolds, Stirling 'Coniferous' tallow soap, custom Oscar11 boar brush, homemade 'BlackRiver' bay rum aftershave. Nothing quite like the feel of heavy Sheffield steel in the morning! Have a great Thursday, gents!

My first use of Mickey Lee Paradise Frost and I'm hooked. I love the scent of grapefruit, and the light menthol is pleasant. The lather is thick, slick and easily built. A top shelf soap to be sure. It paired well with Shea Moisture Shave Elixir for a smooth and easy shave. Astra SP must be the best value in blades.
    Prep: Chatillon Lux butter
Soap: Mickey Lee Soap Works Paradise Frost
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
    Razor: Rockwell 6s R6
    Blade: Astra SP
    AS: Shea Moisture Shave Elixir[IMG]

    SOTD Followup:
The Tabac/Polsilver SI was a revelation. The 2011 R41 glided (finally!) across my face and I was able to complete my first shave without any nicks or weepers. The alum test was negative and I am feeling not only refreshed, but filled with a sense of accomplishment. I used to think that I could achieve a BBS shave with any blade/razor/soap combination---and silently questioned those who espouse that certain blades work better with certain razors. The fact is certain blades DO work better with certain razors and certain soaps are indeed slicker and more protective than others. While Tabac may have a polarizing scent, there is no argument that the soap is quality.
Have a great day my friends. :)

The T+S Maya may be my favorite scent of the new line. I added the AS this week and it really finished the shave beautifully.
