Fourth and final shave with the Treet Black was its worst shave yet. Just to clarify, the worst shave for the Treet Black consists of zero nicks or cuts, no tugging and very mild irritation from my cold water rinse after two passes yielding DFS. I did have some razor angle issues today that might have been the cause of the irritation too.

It was another 1 pass with touch ups Darn Fine Shave this morning. I am trying out only shaving with my non dominant hand this week.

Trying out a soap which was purchased back in March or April. IanS has an etsy shop and I purchased several large pucks. He said they were older and had mainly lost their scents. This soap has no scent to speak of. It mounded up with airy and dry lather right away, so it took a bit of work to try and wet and thicken it. Not sure if I quite got there, but the puck is wet now and hopefully will soften up. The initial performance reminded me of Williams in building the light lather, but on my face it did not disappear or dry out. Just a little light. Anyhoo, 3 pass shave and ready to face the day.

 

The chin is the hardest part for most straight razor users. Do a Jay Leno chin pushout to stretch and shave. I shave north south, then east west. Short strokes. Some of my friends decided a goatee was the answer instead to trying to shave the chin.

After all my whining in previous posts, I finally had a decent shave with a vintage razor. The Aristocrat and Voshkod paired together nicely. Nearly DFS with less irritation than usual. There is some hope for me after all.

A tale of two blades
I decided to use a Gillette 7 o'clock SE yellow blade today, to compare them to my usual Personna Blue. The SE was my go to blade for a long time before I tried the Personna. I must say I much prefer the latter. Today's shave was just ok, a bit of tugging and a generally rougher feeling. I have a little irritation on my jawline, too. Back to the Personna next time, and these will be my first 100 blade purchase.
