    Thursday

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap
    Soap: Coate’s Sandalwood Cream
Razor: Gillette 40’s Style Super Speed
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (2)
    Brush: oscar 11 TGN 2-Band Finest-24mmx50mm
    Aftershave: Fine Platinum

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

Great cream today, Coate’s Sandalwood. I had a great shave with the 40’s Style SS and Med Prep cushioned by the Coate’s cream. I finished up with Fine Platinum.

Excellent shave this morning. Featuring the "mighty" acorn soap bowl, lol. When time permits, I'll do a handle for the horse which has been performing very nicely. Have a good one. Things might start slowing down a bit for me, all the contractors are waiting on parts.

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: WW2 Gillette Tech
    Blade: Treet Black (day 3)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Col Conk lime
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Arko Ice Mint

Much better water to soap ratio today, the only downside being no surplus lather. I was inspired by the cool morning temperature and went with cold water for most of my shave today. Combined with the subtle hints of lime foment the Col Conk it was a nice refreshing shave. The Treet Black, although still very smooth is starting to feel dull, but two passes and touch ups still yielded a DFS with zero irritation, cut, nicks or any other unpleasantness. Keeping the cool/cold trend I finished with Arko Ice Mint.

    Thor's Day:

    Prep:
    Hot shower, Healthy Accent
    Brush: Beeline Boar
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Shave stick
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash

This morning I set my jaw, steeled myself, and put down the One-X in order to give the Ogallala shave stick another try on what is my 'typical' talk like a pirate Bay Rum day. I like the scent of this stuff, but MAN do I have a devil of a time getting a good lather out of it. Even without the preshave balm (which I figured might have been making the lather harder to create with the stick rubbed directly over it) my lather was thin and quick to disappear for the first pass, despite a long time working it over. It was enough to get me to bowl lather the Ogallala for my XTG pass, which resulted in slightly better but still less-than-good lather. I managed it without any nicks or weepers, just one sensitive spot under my jaw where the alum stung, and a DFS, altogether, though.

    Thursday 7/10/14

    Prep: Gaia face scrub
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
    Scuttle Georgetown Pottery
Razor: slim adjustable set to 5
    Blade: Voskhod
    soap:

    Volabra Fougere

    Post: Alum sprayed on
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented
    AS: Sampsons all natural

The Valobra Fougere is another fine French soap. I was given a sample of this along with the MDC regular and the MDC Fougere. The scent of the Volabra is decidedly more potent than that of the MDC. The lather produced IMHO is almost as good as, if not in fact as good as, any of the other French soaps, including MDC. The lather is very protective and leaves my face feeling great. Be warned, though, that if you are not a fan of the fougere scent, this one may seem overpowering to you.

    Prep: wash with Stirling Barbershop
Lather: Stirling Spice (pay no attention to label in picture, it is spice in an old tiki container)
    Brush: Omega B&B boar
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: unknown super + platinum
Post: cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime

2 pass face and 2 pass scalp shave this morning. All good all around. I did notice, for the first time, the bay rum scent to the Lime aftershave. Might have been the combination of the Spice soap and the aftershave and the bay rum just came out in the air. No problems, I like it.

    From the Valobra web site:
The saponification is one of the most important stages of processing of a toilet soap . The choice of this method determines to a large extent the quality of the soap. Valobra has always adopted and maintained the saponification by “boiling to the strength”, the classic method called " Marseillaise ," which was started in the second half of the eighteenth century, precisely in the region of Marseille. It should be noted that the industry of soap- Marseille was founded a hundred years before with the assistance of experts soapmakers from Genoa who were called by Colbert , minister of industry of the Sun King Louis XIV , in Marseille and Toulon to start the industrial activities in that region .

See - I told you it was French. :bounce015:
