    Thursday's shave

Getting the hang of this Milord razor and getting some nice results with it.

    Razor - Milord
Blade - Gillette Silver Blue (great blades)
Pre Shave - Edwin Jagger Hydrating Pre Shave lotion
    Lather - I Coloniali soap
    Brush - Pilsson synthetic
    Aftershave - Williams Ice blue

I do prefer I Coloniali to MDC. The main reason is the scent. I really like MDC fougere but prefer the lighter, fresher scent of Coloniali.
Also I just like how it feels on my face, it's a slick soap and it feels like it has a little bit of menthol in too.

Thanks Steve for letting me know that this is a 1912 and not a 1924 that I thought I had traded for back in January. Sorry for the miss info gents.

Shave #8 on the current GEM SS blade and still 2 pass BBS. Gotta love the SE blades.
Today's weapon of choice in the rotation was the Micromatic Open comb. Courtesy of @maltedmilk . Now this razor isn't as vicious as made out to be but an extra notch on the attention belt will go along way to not giving yourself a cut. I didn't fly around my face but it didn't take much longer. The MMOC could easily be a daily shaver once you adapted to its characteristics. The 1924 flat comb and the MMOC have a similar blade feeling but the 1924 seems just slightly less attention seeking. I got a bee in my bonnet yesterday so put together a small 70gm test of a new recipe for shaving soap that has been nagging me for a couple of days. This one goes back to using a percentage of Tallow along with Avocado, Castor and Coconut oils. It is excellent for face lathering. As it is a hot process soap it is basically ready to use the next morning.
    Razor Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade GEM SS [x8]
    Brush #6 Turkish
    Soap - Mine
    2 Pass BBS.
    No cuts, weepers or irritation.
I think there is still life in the blade so I think I will treat myself to a 1924 shave with the blade tomorrow. Shave [#9]

That's good to know. Thanks. I like an AS that'll last the majority of the day. :)

This is a very nice photo. Very classy black and white photo. But when you're using a product called "glo" it makes me curious as to wether it lives up to its name or not.
On a more serious note is the 1924 gem the Shovel Head?

@Slow Joe the 1924 is also referred to the shovel head by many. The razor in the photo looks like it could be a 1912.

Not a guru with the SE razors but I understand the ER 1924 are called Shovelhead. Now when I traded for this back in January I was told it was a ER 1924 and once in my hands it is stamped British Made', 'Made in England' with Pat. 1912, so not sure if 1912, 1924 or 1930 as some of the quick research I did when it arrived. I stuck with 1924 never the less and does provide a pretty close shave.

**Should add that it does flip forward which lends to the confusion**

    Limes and smoothness
Another superb shave with the Fatboy and Limes & Bergamot. The Lather Monster made plenty of slick protective yogurt. The Fatboy set on nine easily and closely mowed down my stubble. I think this razor shaves closer on nine than the 39c. The last two passes were drama free set on seven. I accidentally used too much aftershave, because of no flow limiter, but that actually worked really well as the lime note was more pronounced this time.

Summer break starts around noon today after we haul the stage and chairs used at the State FFA Convention back to the Colorado State Fair. The last 3 days have been motivational and inspirational as I experienced the pride and passion of nearly 1800 Colorado FFA members gathered together in my town. You just have to love the energy of this generation as they develop into leaders of agriculture.

Mastro Livi Perugia 13.12.14, 15/16 Full Hollow, Spanish Point

With this unexpected heat we have in Milan in these days, I was thinking about having a refreshing shave and therefore I thought it was the right occasion for using my Thyrrenus after shave. With its refreshing and cooling effect, it worked great and gave me a little relief. This Mastro Livi Perugia 13.12.14 straight razor was the perfect companion for a magnificent shave, deep and close as usual, always impeccable in giving the best and luxurious shaving experience. And now, I am ready to face the Milanese heat, at least for a little while.

    June 5/15 SOTD

Prep: Hot facecloth followed by homemade pre-shave oil
    Soap: Fendrihan Soap Unscented
Razor: Fendrihan long handle closed comb safety razor (DE)
    Blade: Feather
Brush: Parker 100% Pure Badger Bristle Shaving Brush
Aftershave: Hot facecloth followed by Lavender Witch Hazel
    Aftershave balm: Shea Butter

This was a day of "firsts" for me. First time I have used the Fendrihan unscented soap. It performed well; produced a nice lather and kept its body throughout the shave. Also my first time with the Fendrihan DE. For the price ($25 Canadian) this is a great razor. Good balance and nice feel in my hand. Despite one small nick on the Adam's Apple (I attribute to my first time use) this is a nice razor. And you can't beat a Feather. Picked up a bottle of Lavender Witch Hazel yesterday (one of the few scents I seem to tolerate well)...and this was a nice addition to my routine. Also my first time with the Shea Butter as a post-shave balm...and this was a real treat. I am sad to think I am only discovering Shea Butter so late in life. Pity...

Nice way to start the day...
