    Monday

Should have been menthol, but I did that yesterday, still not sure I like it..

Prep: Hot shower, face scrubbed in Matas Face Wash.
    Weapon: Mühle R89 / Astra SP (3).
Brush: Shaving Factory Hand Made XS pure bristle.
Lather: Haslinger Ringelblumen (Marigold) whipped up in Ikea bamboo bowl.
    Shave: Traditional 3-pass.
Post: Cold water, alum block, rinsed off and finished off with Nivea for Men Sensitive asb.

Great shave with a little warning, though no nick. The Ringelblumen is a great soap but not with the same protection against the blade that I'm used to with the Ewe Milk version.

    Monday evening...
    Razor: Gillette Old "Brownie"
    Blade: NOS Gillette Blue Blade
    Cream: Cremo

    Two pass with touchups

    Alum
    Cold water rinse
    Nivea balm

I won't be giving the "Blue" blade another use - a bit too much tugging and pulling for my taste. I'll save the unopened box I have for display.

    Monday, Monday....:prrr:
Tried some NEW things this morning just to keep it interesting

    1. Soap: DR Harris Marlborough - 'smokey' fragrance; old ashtray?
    2. Razor: 1951 Gillette Fat Handle Tech
    [IMG]

    3. Brush: WD 30mm silvertip
    4. Wash & lather up aggressively; massaging face with brush (felt awesome!)
    5. Rinse and apply PSO until my face has a nice sheen.
    6. Re-lather & begin shave.
    7. Three passes plus touch-up
    8. Cold-water rinse, splash of Clubman Pinaud, finish with Nivea Balm.

Nice smooth shave,; no nicks (unlike yesterday's blood-letting). The Tech is fairly forgiving, and I really like the feel of it. I don't know if the first lather/wash/re-lather is a benefit for a person with a light beard such as me, but I figured what the heck! Try something different...

It's a bit more than smokey to me.

I think it is reminiscent of passing out in a campfire. I used it twice and while I liked the performance of the soap, I could not stomach the scent.

What's your opinion of that creme? Brush preference?

Rob, I discovered one of the most convenient and effective methods to softening and blooming this particular brush is to diligently paint the brush on a dry towel following each shave. Not too firm, but a gentle dozen or so vertical & horizontal painting strokes, and then a 'hand-shaping' to retain a proper loft. Within several days I noticed a distinct softening and fullness to the knot.

The cream is fantastic. It is a brushless cream....I think you could use one, but I never have. I use Cremo almost exclusively for my head shaves. I just chose to use it for my face tonight because I had decided to use the "Blue Blade".... It didn't help. I think the modern blades have a leg up on the 'Blue' :/

I did a superlather of Klar Kabinett and Kiss My Face Key Lime, partly because I wanted to use up the last of the Klar sample that was given to me and partly because I wanted to find a way to enjoy this soap. Following a quick application of The Art of Shaving Ocean Kelp preshave gel I decided to face lather for a change, which I actually really enjoyed. My Parker SRW did its usual awesome job using my all time favorite blade, and I managed a baby butt smooth shave with zero nicks and zero irritation. I'm still not a big fan of Klar, but I think I've found a good way to use up my sample and still enjoy the results.

I'll be using this set up for the rest of the week with one small addition. I just received my package from Connaught Shaving with a couple of SAL alum sticks in it, so I will be adding in an application of alum to my post shave. I may also switch out my Parker SRW for the SR1, but they are so similar that this is not much of a change.

Pre: AoS Ocean Kelp Preshave gel
    Razor: Parker SRW
    Blade: SuperMax Titanium
    Brush: Vulfix 376S Super Badger
Soap: Superlather of Klar Kabinett & KMF Key Lime
    Post: Cold water rinse

I'll be using mainly soaps which I've neglected or forgot about for this week - this Alpino stick which is no longer available smells so nice and has amazing lather with a mild cooling sensation. The Svoboda balsam always delivers on the comfort and cooling after a great shave like this, and the Aqua Velva is and always has been a keeper for me. Sorry, no pictures today. ;) :D

I'll stick with the Ern for a while yet. I do have another rescale coming up in the next couple of days. Very nice shave again this morning. All I can say is any shaving soap with a Polar Bear on the tin has gotta be a good one. Have a good one.

    Prep: Hot shower, AoS PSO
Coffee: Maxwell House French Roast, BLACK
CD: Play Me the Blues, disc 2
Soap/Cream: Williams + a squirt of KMF Cool Mint + 4 drops TSD M Bomb
Brush: Vulfix 404, The Grosvenor badger/boar mix
    DE: Fat Handle Tech
Blade: Astra SP, day 2, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Brut ASB, Brut cologne, hand strop blade
    'Stache Wax: Steve's Own

As it is Novelty Week, I went with the Williams - novel for me because I really don't like the stuff, but I thought I'd give it another chance with the KMF and M Bomb. I was hoping to mask the skeeter-be-gone smell with the Cool Mint, no luck. I was hoping to get a great lather with a little extra cream, no luck; got a usable lather, but...

Oh, well. The Williams goes back until next year's Williams Week.

Williams. I don't know if its because the water cools off or what, but regardless of the quality of lather I beat out of a Williams puck, the second pass is always better. Man is this Gillette strong. Have a great day! 005.JPG
