    SUNDAY
    Father's Day Shave
Start of a great Sunday! My first shave ever using this newly-acquired vintage C-MON Cadillac. This was also the first razor off my new Naniwa honing regimen (Super Stone 1k, 5k, 8k, 12k—fabric/leather strop). Silky-smooth edge. Using it in conjunction with the MWF, the resulting shave was, not surprisingly, quite comfortable!
Later today, my three sons are taking over the kitchen and barbecue for a special Father's day dinner. Sweet!
Have a blessed Sunday, especially to all you dads!

    Not a great shave
My neck is a bit sore after this one. The soreness only lasted an hour, so I'm not too worried about it. Maybe my technique lapsed and I have to relearn der vorschlaghammer after so much time with the Fatboy. I'm also thinking that I like the smaller knot of the Colonel better than the HIS XL 28mm. The HIS is still softer, but the Simpson is close and such a pleasure to use.

World Tournament of Blades - Russia vs. the World!!
    June 21, 2015
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - '59 Superspeed
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Post - Alum, Nivea Balm

A few housekeeping items today. First of all, it's Summer Solstice! So to all who celebrate that with us hope it's a great day. Second, it's Father's Day, so happy Father's Day to all the dads on here. Third, yesterday was SWMBO's birthday and she FINALLY used the '65 Lady Gillette I bought her last winter. She has been using the Edwin Jagger Heather ladies razor and really liked it but she admits she LOVES the Gillette. Fourth, today is our anniversary - four years married now and I'm going to be throwing ribs on the grill in a bit. Busy day for all!

Now, on to the tournament. The final Russian in the Elite Eight is on the field. It's the Ladas Super Stainless and it's a blade I've always liked. It survived the Nacet in the first round, which wasn't a huge surprise and now has to face the Sharp Star and its score of 5. Arko and VDH Boar for the easy lather and off to the first pass. Very nice feel on the pass, in fact sharp and smooth...a better pass than its run against the Nacet. I'm thinking this blade gets better the second time around. Second pass XTG and it's still smooth, comfortable and......DFS in two. Wow. A bit surprised but a nice result. Lathered the neck for the try for a BBS as that's the only trouble area now. G-slide and XTG again and there it is....the baby showed up with pacifier in hand. Wow. I did not expect that to be honest. Hit the alum and found a slight, but I mean slight, sting and the Nivea was nice and quiet and felt great. This was a fantastic shave.

Scoring.....I had looked at the first round and scored this blade 2,1,1,2 giving it a 6. I expected that at the best....but here are the results.

Sharpness - Better than round 1. Improved with age so it gets a 1.
Smoothness - Still as good or better than the first time - 1.
Irritation - Virtually none, so again a 1.
    Result - BBS. That's a 1

    Total - 4!!!!! A perfect score and......the winner is........

    LADAS!!! :bounce017:

So, that sets up Voskhod vs. Ladas in the semi-finals for the Russians!! Not a pairing I expected but there it is. Tomorrow we take off to the territories as the Indian Super-Max Platinum takes on the Greek Bic! Have a great Sunday everyone.

I really want a good tobacco scented soap/AS. Do you recommend these?

The Veg was designed by Pinaud for the Hungarian Cavalry in Napoleon's court. Definitely a masculine scent. Congrats on being chosen!

Soap yes. Aftershave no. Although they both match each other the aftershave doesn't have a long lasting stay. But, I'm spoiled by all the excellent aftershaves that I have that do.
