Third shave with the Fat, and I really like it. I face lathered the MWF with my Semogue 1305 boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Fatboy and Derby Extra blade left me with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Decided to pull the Gem Contour II from The Box just to compare it with my Heavy Flat-Top. Each razor got one side of my face using the same fresh Gem stainless blade and VDH.

Bottom line: the C-II required 2+ passes to take off what the G-Bar did in one. Still, for a slightly head-heavy SE, it handled much better for me than the '50s Pushbutton, though they shave about the same. The difference in plating quality is striking. When seen side by side, the Contour's end-of-an-era plating has a dimmer, almost amber tone next to the impeccably bright nickel of the HFT.

Verdict: The newly sanitized Contour II goes back in The Box along with all my other SEs. So long, fellas. May another Travel Boxer enjoy you all.

Perhaps not quite as smooth as yesterday but definitely a very good DFS+ shave. Certainly an intensely-freezing and most pleasurable shave for me - the Glacial Lemon Chill has such a delightful scent. The balance of lemon and menthol is perfect, the lather is a joy to work with, and that freezing effect hits you right away like ten tons of icy bricks. My skin tends to be quite dry so the Anherb conditioner is just right for it because it gives fantastic moisturizing as well as a lot of additional menthol. The Rubby Dubby Doo is an aftershave which I cannot be without. Now, out for breakfast with my daughter and my niece and nephew.

I used the La Toja cream yesterday and decided to go with the La Toja Stick today. No muss, no fuss. Just dip it in the sink, rub it on my wet face, and “poof”, an almost instant thick, cushioning lather with the oscar11 2-Band Finest! It has been a while since I pulled one of my sticks out. I need to use them more at home. Great 5th shave with the NEW SC and Med Prep! I finished with Figaro AS (Hungary).

I felt like a bay rum day, so I went with Synergy and Krampert's. My lather monster lived up to its name as I enjoyed the mild efficiency of my SC101. I did my usual three passes on my cheeks, but only one on my neck for a smooth and comfortable result.
