I had to back off my right jawline and neck too, a strange light burn was persistent there, so I backed off to one WTG pass and it stopped :) it's still DFS with the E2 injector, what a razor!

Tabac Tuesday. New razor! New brush! And I'm using Tabac! On a Tuesday!
    image.jpg
Razor: NotaMerkur Futur set on 3
    Blade: 7:00 yellow
    Brush: Sabi black badger
    Lather: Tabac (so good)
    Aftershave: Proraso white balm

I've said before that I don't prefer balms, and that is true. After yesterday's ride though, I have a sunburn plus irritation from wearing wet wool for so long. The Proraso just works.

The shave was ok. I'm not used to such a long handle (or huge head) and I find the NaM Futur very cumbersome. I'm sure that will improve with practice. This is the first time I've used an adjustable razor, and I wasn't sure what to do. It has six settings, so I put it on three. Am I meant to change the setting between passes?

The brush - what can I say? I just don't think I was meant for badger. My only other badger brush, a silvertip, is now doing leg duty for my sister in law. I thought maybe a 'lesser' grade would be more to my liking, but it is still too soft, and seems to take forever to mix the lather properly. It is brand new though, and any brush takes a few weeks before it gets good, so I'll add it to the rotation and see if I change my mind.

Even if I decide I like badger after all, I don't think I'll be getting my silvertip back.

Rob, the settings (1-6) allows you to find the proper blade gap setting for your personal preference. The 3 is a good starting point and you can adjust up or down to suite your shaving comfort zone. These setting preferences may change when you use different blade brands due to the differences in each blade's performance. There are two schools of thought on changing settings during the shave passes. Some "set it and forget it" others adjust the setting between passes to suite the progressive stages of whisker reduction to remain within a narrow comfort zone. As Steve says; 'It's your shave, enjoy it your way." Play with it and see what works for you. Enjoy! :happy088:

Thanks for the advice! I hadn't thought of changing it for different blades. I guess I'll have some playing to do. Three was okay, but I'll try four next time I use it. Or maybe three for the first pass, then four, then five. I also note that since the razor doesn't 'click' at each stop, there are really infinite settings - not six. There are also hash marks at the halfway points, so if four is two much, I might try three-and-a-half. Or five-plus-just-a-touch. Anyway, lots to play with!

    Tuesday

    CeraVe face wash
    TSD unscented soap
    HIS synthetic brush
    Schick injector L
    New Schick blade
    Cold rinse
    CeraVe lotion

Today I added two drops of glycerine onto the soap before loading up my brush. I lathered on my face as usual and got an exceptionally slick lather. I will have to do this again to see if I can duplicate the results. My face felt good afterward. The shave went really well, three passes without irritation, until I was careless touching up my chin at the end and nicked myself.

After (8) days of face lathering, I decided to go back to lathering in a bowl, especially since I picked up a new bowl. I think I actually prefer face lathering now. See what things you can learn in "novelty week"! The Tabac/Innsbruck is very quickly becoming my favorite combo. My face really likes these blades too. Day (4) doesn't feel any different than day 1. Off to take the Pug to the vet, he is dragging one of his hind legs a bit. Hope its nothing major, he is getting old! Enjoy the remainder of the day all!

Very nice smooth shave this morning. I've been playing around with a couple of natural stones and have been getting some very comfortable shaving edges. I think this stone (the finisher) has a little more to give to the edge, I'll continue to experiment with it. Have a good one.

Since I have started using a touch more water to my already slick lather, the shaves have improved greatly and today was no exception. The Short Comb NEW on the heavy handle worked as a whiskey squeegee and just wiped them away. No irritation near bbs 2-pass shave.

Aveeno Active Naturals Unscented Aftershave Lotion

BBS on the face, DFS on the throat. Face-lathering on the first pass was a lot more of a chore than has been typical; my skin just seemed to actively absorb the lather. Wondering if it was an operator issue or a skin chemistry issue.
