SOS: June 2018

Tonight's shave was with a Russian Beauty. I had a very smooth and very very noisy 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues. I do like using the old Russian blades. Super sharp edges, very stiff, and noisy. Usually no touch-ups needed.

Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented

Pretty good shave the other day. This new soap formula from HEV is a vast improvement IMO. Although it feels much softer than any other triple milled soap I have ever tried, the lather was quite swell. Finished off with CL Rose Santal which smells amazing.

This is a artisan I have never heard of (which is surprising) but it has a nice ingredient list, and a beautiful rose scent. Really surprised by the lather quality, very good stuff. Held a good amount of water, slickness and post shave are top notch. Just rubbed in the left over lather and used it like a balm, face felt nice and moisturized. Will experiment further with this artisan, but so far this is another hidden gem IMO.

Incredible shave this afternoon. No irritation or nicks. The travel shaves have been getting better, started with the Rose shave the other day. Scent of this Noble Otter soap is tea forward with bergamot and vanilla, smells sophisticated to my nose and so far my favorite scent from Noble Otter. This new formula whipped up a mountain of lather providing a BBS shave. Used the leftover lather as a post shave since I forgot to bring balm with me. Has been working well these past few shaves and allowed this beautiful scent to be enjoyed a little bit longer. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!

I keep talkinabout your Plissoft from Razorock, now I HAVE a Razorock item(but a soap, not a Plissoft).

 

Can I assume the Kölnisch is a take on 4711?

 

SPEHS...Gentile-SLOC/Bic. Loudddddd...but no problems . Want to be clean shaven for Cambodia Monday so the soul patch was dis-patched pretty easily in the one pass while I was thinking about it.

A late evening shave with the Parthenon. An excellent 2 pass shave with touch ups along the jawline. No issues to speak of. Just a fine shave. Have a great evening and shaves Gents... ​

 

I am close to pulling the trigger on some Seville. Talk me out of it. There is a tub of the older Seville available on Ebay. Is the formula different?

 

Kölnisch: Lime, Petitgrain, Litsea Cubeba, Lavender, Benzoin, Oakmoss, Patchouli
Bonum Mane: Lemongrass, Lavender, Mandarin, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Juniper Berry, Patchouli Essential Oils and a hint of clean musk

To my nose both are very similar to 4711. BM on dry down closer to 4711 but on initial aroma in jar and lathering up Kölnisch closer in aroma to 4711 but not as bright/citrus in aroma.

 

Talk you out of it?? Who me? Hahaha-hahaha-hahaha........ Wrong guy!!

Concerning the scent of the older stuff, I couldn’t tell you my friend. But, looking at the ingredients list they’re identical, old and new that is. The scent is truly a modern classic take on what a Barbershop scent is. The after shave and especially the edt seal the deal. No regrets on my end. Think NIKE.....

Another long day at work today. Sale changeover day, actually had customers (of course, when there is other stuff to do) and a few problems to deal with. Another night to be happy to be home and ready to shave. It ends days like this on a positive note for me.

Same basic setup as last night except a brush change. The Omega 10066 which made the VDH Deluxe behave as always. I got a nice slick lather out of it and took three passes again with the Treet blade. Another fine DFS finish that is good enough for tomorrow. I'm enjoying splashing a bit of classic AS on in the mornings. Nice way to start the day. So far nobody has seemed bothered so I'll keep at it. Just hate to set off allergies as I'm closing in on the big money.
