Da, time with the curvy Russian was well rewarded. :happy036: I tried out vetiver for the first time. On Mike’s site he warns it is a polarizing shave. Kind of smells like dank earth to me. Can’t say I love it but don’t hate it either. Maybe it’ll grow on me.

Very good. I'll definitely try to find a way for a purchase next year. Not sure when it will be, but they'll hear from me.

    YESTERDAY'S SHAVE
    20180531_125745.jpg

Prep: Mickey Lee Sandalwood pre shave butter
    Razor: Schick Injector
    Blade: Ted Pella (1st shave)
    Brush: Yaqi 26mm synthetic
    Soap: Oleo Soapworks- Treviso
Post: Oleo Frankie & Myrna balm

First time with Oleo's new duck fat formula. Whipped up a thick lather, but did notice a bit of burning sensation on the 2nd pass, was not terrible but noticable. Will experiment and see if it happens again. The scent of Treviso does smell awesome, sweet chocolate scent. Finished off with Frankie & Myrna balm, smells nice and was quite soothing. Was going to pick up a matching scent but didn't want to walk around smelling like teramisu all day.

    TODAY'S SHAVE
    20180601_133803.jpg

Prep: shower with WTF Taboo bath soap, pre shave soap mix
    Razor: Maggard MRG
    Blade: Gillette Black

    Brush: Maggard 24mm synthetic
    Soap: Declaration Grooming- YRP
    Post: CL YRP A/S

Wonderful invigorating shave this afternoon. The scent of YRP is beautiful and works great as a soap scent IMO. The aftershave has the same scent, and can still detect it hours later. Still a bit on the fence about the A/S, I love the scent but it really doesn't fit my personality. However, It is a scent that has been growing on me. Looking forward to the Maggard meet tomorrow, hopefully will see some of yall there. Everyone have a great day and peaceful shaves!

Just the Basics June/Just for Fun June - take your pick

    June 1

Razor - Van Der Hagen TTO
    Blade - Generic Personna - Walgreen's version
Soap - Van Der Hagen Scented Luxury
    Brush - Omega BoS 10066
Post - Alum, Aqua Velva Musk (Saturday morning)

And we're off! Still catching up a bit on the first 6 pages so far but I'll get there. Busy day today with a Dr. appointment this morning that led to lunch, getting some necessary household stuff, going swimming, cooking and eating ribs. Whew! How do you top off a day like that? With two shaves of course. Head and face.

The head shave was perfect as usual. Merkur 23c for the razor. Astra blade. VDH Boar brush and Arko for the "Basics". Usualy finish on that one. Face shave featured the Van Der Hagen TTO razor. This is the first DE razor I ever used. I don't have any more of the VDH blades so I went with the generic Personnas from Walgreens. The brush was a boar, and the soap was VDH Scented Luxury. I've never used this soap before but I have used several pucks of the Deluxe version and really liked it. This soap has a scent that reminds me a bit of Ozark Mountain from Stirling. The quality, while good for a cheap soap, of course did not match Stirling but I knew it wouldn't. Seriously, though, the lather was slick, and with a few days work with it I'll have it as good or better as most soaps. Love it when the cheap stuff works like that.

I have a puck of Deluxe arriving tomorrow along with a new brush and bowl. And, I got three samples from Soap Commander today so I'll "upgrade" from basic soap to that a few times this month. Finish tonight was a very nice DFS and I'm a happy camper!

    Razor - Merkur Futur
    Blade - BiC Chrome-Platinum *7th Shave
    Razor Stand by RV Shaving
Shave Brush by Doug Korn's Workshop
Brush Stand by Desire Metal Works
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Shave Soap - Razorock "Son of Zeus" Vegan Formula
    Aftershave - Fine "L'Orange Noir"
Post Shave Balm - Retseliney Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Deodorant - My Pit Butter "Orange"
    Fragrance - Terre d'Hermes EDT

3-pass + touchup. This was one of the best shaves of the year. The Merkur + BiC Chrome-Platinum combo on the '1' setting make for, IMO, the best, most consistent shaves. I never seem to get any weepers or cuts and the closeness, smoothness post-shave are only matched by the most aggressive razors that 'do' give me some weepers here and there. I use the Edwin Jagger Kelvin and Gillette Superspeed often too as they also give great, reliable, comfortable shaves. After having had lots of time to evaluate the results of all the shaves, the Merkur Futur is, IMO, the best, most bullet-proof shave I get. The closeness rivals the Old-Type+Wilkinson Sword combo, without the weepers I can get when employing such an aggressive razor. The Futur can be set much more aggressively than I currently set it, but at the cost of irritation with no gain of post shave smoothness. The setting I have is the closest I can shave without irritation/weepers. Score one for adjustable razors.

And the Terre d'Hermes set is just gorgeous, isn't it? Doug Korn's brush is fantastic. I just couldn't ask for better than the sets I've spent so much time assembling. They are fantastic sink decorations. When I eventually buy a house I will decorate the bathroom with shaving-related stuff I think. I will try to find the biggest, best bathroom I can with a nice sized storage closet and sink storage area (I'll need it with all the shaving stuff I now own).
