I wasn't too keen on the scent of the Lida soap. Both the Injector II and Quattro had trouble shifting five days of growth.

Tonight's shave was with a Newly Acquired, Freshly Honed razor. I had a smooth 2 pass shave, that left me with near BBS results. No touch-ups. Zero issues.


Razor- F.W.Engels "Leader". Solingen Germany.
Brush- JR #262 Ebony/Birdseye Maple. WD Silvertip Knot
Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy
Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

 

Now THAT is a beautiful Beehive Mark. Bravo. I have been trying to get Ken at Paladin to make me one like this for a while.

Nice shave with CK Et Tu, smells exactly like Brut and the CK formula is a big step up from the PAA formula IMO. Managed to get a smooth shave and no burning from the Special Reserve.

Love the scent of SS Pumpkin and the fact that it doesn't burn my skin which spicy scents do from time to time. Whipped up a thick lather in the copper bowl, lather provided good protection, especially since I started leaving leftover lather on freshly shaved skin. makes the post shave properties much more obvious either good or bad. Finished off with CL 2018 that paired well with the soap.

Fast 2 pass shave the other day, was in a bit of a rush but still got a decent shave. Scent of Pannacreama Vetiver is the closest scent I have found to a old bookstore (along with Sherlock) and I mean this in a good way. Nice and earthy with some light citrus notes, by far my favorite from the original PC line. Finished off with Stirling Vetiver which the GF says smells like turpentine but IMO is a nice grassy Vetiver although not for everyone it does change a bit over time.

Had a bit of lather trouble for this evenings shave. Not sure what went wrong but it was the same thing that happened with Van Yulay Spiced Mahogany, the lather felt almost waxy for lack of a better term, not sure if it is from the pre shave soap or what. Scent of Calamity Jane is hard to describe but it is spicy with fruit notes, apparently each batch has a different scent so it's a gamble. Not my favorite scent from Wild West but would imagine it would make a good EDT since it is pretty complex and interesting scent. Despite the lather issues the shave went well and managed no nicks although the OC razor is a bit agressive. Hope everyone had a great shave!

 

Just for Fun with the Basics June!

Well, well, well. I think I've got both VDH soaps figured out now. I used the Omega 10066 boar to get after the VDH Luxury and ended up with as fine a lather as I get out of the Deluxe. Sweet! Now, I'll never say the lather from these soaps is the best in the business, but it is one of the best for a soap in this price range and category. I'll take VDH over about any other currently made "drugstore" soap.

I took a little extra time tonight, slowed down, avoided any pressure and just let the classic SS and Personna blade work. The result is a near-BBS with no blood or other problems and the alum was quiet. Very nice indeed.

Tonight's picture is the patent drawings for barber scissors. Not exactly shaving, but it is definitely barber shop stuff. That'll do. Heat, more heat and enough humidity to drown in today with big T-storms late this afternoon. And, for the first time in over a year, we heard tornado sirens. Nothing that close to us as far as any wind but a couple of big ones rolled through and caused a stir. Nothing major though. Have a great night and a better tomorrow!
