Awesome shave this morning. Doom and gloom day but, my best girls are taking this Old Man out for some steak and ale. Nothing wrong with that. Happy Fathers Day to all and helluva good shave to all as well...

    Olive Oil Soap
    Arran Lochranza Shaving Soap
    Yaqi Metal 24mm Timberwolf Brush
Focus R28 Slim Al Razor with a Kai Blade
    Alum and Rinse
    Aloe Vera Gel
    Grey Flannel EDT

I am re evaluating the Kai Blades. I tried them years ago in DE razors but just didn't get on with them at all. A few years on with considerably more shaves under my belt (figuratively speaking).... I want to see if the high price is justified. They seem ok so far but there is just a little more feedback from the Alum test and unless the longevity is considerably more.....I am inclined towards sticking with the Feathers.

3 passes for a perfect finish which will see me through tonight's shift.

    Cold Water Rinse
    Vintage Life Licorice
    Jayaruh #271 Synthetic
    Ever-Ready Lather Catcher
    Pal CS SE
    CWR
    Florida Water

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Vintage Life Licorice Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #273 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Ever-Ready Lather Catcher razor with a Pal CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Overall it wasn’t too bad. I Gave myself a small cut by the jaw and quite a bit of razor burn, but better then expected. I had to push 3+ passes too get close to a BBS but fell a bit short. I liked it much better then my shavette but still need to gain experience. I didn’t write anything because we were running out the door to go north overnight at Mackinaw. Just had time to shave, post, and leave. This morning the face was still a bit raw and I had to tread lightly with my DE. Need to run. Thanks Tom.

    My Father’s Day shave:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/new Gillette
    Мыльный (Soapy) SC
    Dave’s Homemade ASB
    Musgo Real Classic AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

I’m not sure exactly about this new blade because the package just says Gillette on it so it could be anything. It performed very well so I think, or at least I hope it’ll continue performing like that all week. The Soapy cream from Russia smells exactly how its name implies - soapy and clean, its lather is very rich as well as thick, and it has excellent skincare. The tube I’m using now was given to me a few years ago by a dear friend of mine when my wife and I were in Russia on my last business trip, and we were invited by this gentleman and his charming wife to stay at their house which is in the beautiful city of Khabarovsk which is my parent’s hometown! Dave’s balm is so rich in postshave care and the Musgo Real aftershave has a lovely scent which doesn’t ruin that of a fragrance. A great two pass BBS shave which I enjoyed immensely.

Happy Father’s Day from a super proud Dad! 2808210B-65B5-4C80-8235-A8E76B32AC94.jpeg

A 50 day setup while I'm in Cambodia and Vietnam. Stahly/Bic for the beard, Enders Speed/Proline for my head.

I actually brought a few other DEs along, the Dart, Fine Marvel, Schone to name names but after a few days I realized I'm just happier using the Stahly than the others. It isn't capable of getting as close as the Enders-Proline in a single pass but it's such a pleasure and so efficient given its smoothness...

So no anticipated SOTD from me for a while, this is it.

Thank you, in and back online, just waiting on bulk of stuff to arrive, nothing like a bed roll from the bug out bag on the floor of one's high-rise condo...roughing it. LOL
