    Just the Basics June!

    June 11

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club (pain stick)
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Stirling Ozark Mountain
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

It's a Friday night guys and gals and time to celebrate the end of the week (for some anyway) with a great shave. I'm sticking with the Feather SS and Pro blade. Went with Stirling Ozark Mountain for one of my favorite scents and that world-famous Stirling lather. The JR54 is a classy brush that is a spot-on lather maker. Great lather, and a smooth effort with the Feather SS. I had the angle from the very first set down so that lip thingy on it didn't throw me for even a stroke. Finished three passes with near-BBS and alum mostly quiet. Great way to go into a Saturday! Hope you have a great weekend and get out and do something fun. Even if it is from six feet away.

The expected thunderstorms can't be seen.
Instead there is a spring day, sunny, fresh and breezy, which inspired me of parfume d'antan, when there was really spring and the scents linked to it were the citrus of the colognes of the past.

The soap and the EdT have the same fragrance of past times, the brush is neutral, but the razor is like the one my father used: a jump back over sixty years.

The blade had a raspy side, but, used on the good side, it shaved perfectly: one single pass and a few touch ups and I am so sexy to arouse the envy of Brad Pitt.

Not too humid today (57%) so the situation was right for a ‘hydrating’ shower, an exfoliating shave
    and a moisturizing aftershave.
Garnier Whole Bends hydrating shampoo and conditioner, coconut water and vanilla milk.
    Coast coconut soap, ‘scratchy’ washcloth.
    Shave Secret PSO
    Masters Vanishing Menthol shave cream
    Semogue 1460 boar
    37 Slant
    Shark Super Chrome
    Dickinson’s witch hazel (as always)
    Masters Bay Rum
Around here, there just aren’t many ‘dry’ days. But, when there is, I have what’s needed for the ‘situation’.
During summer, I like to go with this setup. The Masters stuff is great. On a dry day the glycerin heavy a.s.
really cools you off, but also really moisturizes. Anyone who uses ‘balms’ instead of real a.s. has never used Masters!
When the humidity’s low, scent evaporates, and dissipates faster, so the scent doesn’t last as long.
With the Masters, the scent hangs around longer, always appreciated in a Bay Rum.
Meanwhile, during the shave, the Vanishing Menthol keeps you cool. While the boar brush gives some exfoliation.
And nothing pairs better with a tropical scent than coconut.
A Liga Privada #9, a Cuba Libre, and some Steely Dan, it’s the perfect ‘situation’.

I love the Barbasol Brisk, early fall when it’s still hot. But I’ve never been able to get the Pacific Rush.
I’ve always wanted to try it. And I didn’t know they had a P.R. Shave foam. Do they have a Brisk as well?
Nice shave, looks like it would be cooling. Perfect for summer. Well done!

The Archaic Alchemy Eureka Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #313 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the J.R. Torrey gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Saturday morning’s Grand Freeze:

    Neutrogena Men Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/new Wilkinson
    Bundubeard Vanilla X 3 SS
    Gold Bond Moisturizer
    Osage Rub AS Splash
    Azzaro Wanted By Night EdP

These Wilkinsons are actually very good blades - they’re very sharp as well as smooth and they seem to have good longevity. Do I ever love this Vanilla X 3 soap - it’s a bona fide face freezer with a lovely scent, the lather it produces is unbelievable, and the skincare is brilliant. The Gold Bond moisturizer has lots of menthol in it also and it’s so good as a balm, while the Osage Rub delivers a whopper of a menthol sensation. Three passes gave me a brilliant BBS shave!

Be well and safe - we’ll get through this COVID!
