    Gillette Razor Week.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave.)
A new shave set up to start the weekend...It's been a while since i last used the Gillette guard... I have mentioned before i do a full head shave once a month after my weekly 'no guard' buzzcut with my wahl hair clippers.
When i first started to fully shave my head and before i had the confidence to shave with a DE or SE razor my razor of choice was the Gillette guard which are made in India for the subcontinent market.
It's the only cartridge razor i still occasionally use normally for shaving the back of my neck pick ups or a quick no fuss shave...My first maiden shave with it felt like i was shaving with a potato peeler due to it's tilting head, but what i really like about is it doesn't clog up due to it been open comb and having a large blade gap, one of the few if any open comb single edge cartridge razors on the market. It's excellent for tight spots and problem areas. My only crits are because the razor is made of plastic which isn't eco-friendly or recyclable and it's very light making it 'Top heavy' but that's expected considering what it costs to make you're not going to get a shave from it like a DE or a SE razor granted, but for what it is, the overall shave performance from this one-blade cartridge razor is totally acceptable and easily to adjust to when shaving with it.

I can get 3-4 combined face & head shaves from one cartridge/head, which i consider excellent value. Head shaving is how i test a blade for it's efficiency... It's an ideal travel razor, or when your in need of "a quick can't be arsed no fuss presentable face or head shave"...What more is needed i ask.

A comfortable presentable face & head shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of Creightons Sensitive Post Shave Balm.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

Super nice and smooth easy shave. I’m really starting to like this razor, a lot. The shave zone is nearly built right in with not a whole lot of blade feel but, it mows down the whiskers. Took care of 2 days growth with ease. A great day and shaves to all….

The Proraso Red Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #277 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Tourqued Slant Razor by Tom with a Personna Super (61) Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Astra Green day 13
Master Soap Creations Frosted Bay Rum SS
    Prep ASB
    Pinaud Bay Rum AS Splash

Bay rum and menthol=a marriage made in heaven - Fernando’s Frosted Bay Rum soap has such a gorgeous scent which is so old school, the ease of lathering is unbelievable, the tallow formula gives it such slickness, the menthol sensation is great, and the skincare is perfect. The Prep and the Pinaud Bay Rum aftershave were so soothing as well as cooling not to mention how nice they both smell and how well they pair with each other. The Astra Green blade is quite a bit duller now but it still worked well enough for me to get a very good, comfortable shave!

    Be well and safe!

If you don’t mind me asking, how does this razor compare to the ‘Merica (Yates) razor or one of the game changers for that matter (if you have one of those for comparisons)? Just wondering on aggressiveness vs efficiency comparisons… Lol, I definitely don’t need anymore razors, but I debated on getting one of these with the next batch. Thanks.

Before you get your question answered, I just wanted to say it reminded me of The Soap Exchange's description of its Texas Leather. They say it will give you the scent of 'Merica.

A Cooperstown joy ride. The annoying center diamond on the pre-war Coopers has one benefit, which is it serves to stabilize and facilitate alignment of an injector blade (Proline) in just the right way. Makes for mild but more efficient shave, think Schick I. As for the Kant-Rust Adjustable (aka Berkeley Adjustable, Doehler-Jarvis), it's performance is much improved with the Prismatic cap, Kai blade, quarter turn yields a nice balance of comfort and efficiency, half turn effective to clean up some tiny misses of the Schick Proline.[IMG]

    LOVE IT

‘Merica… I mean, what else is there to say??

At around $40-50 for an American made safety razor. Not too shabby

I probably should just buy it now and ask questions later. Like those online gun stores that basically say “shoot now and pay later.”
