Van der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap
Bunny B400 Badger by T. White
Bunny V3 Injector by T. White

    English Leather AS

The Van der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap lathered well with the Bunny B400 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Bunny V3 Injector Razor with the NOTSO comb and a Supply Black Label injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with English Leather AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    L’Oréal Men Expert Facial Wash
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Wilkinson Sword/Shark day 10
    Proraso Green SS
    Prep ASB
    Proraso Green AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel Deodorant Stick
    Bleu de Chanel Parfum

The Proraso Green soap tub I used today is the original one - it’s been sitting underneath the sink in my bathroom for perhaps fifteen years and I completely forgot about it. There’s definitely a difference between this one and the newer version - the older one has more of an old school barbershop scent with the menthol and eucalyptus notes, the lather is exactly the same as the newer one, there seems to be more menthol in this one, but the newer version has better skincare. The Prep sure came in handy this morning because my face felt a bit irritated, and the Proraso Green aftershave gave me a good menthol punch. I did two passes but I wound up pretty damned smooth - this was a great shave even if I say so myself!

Enjoy your weekend - be well and safe!

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, JUNE 17, 2024

Inspired by a number of shave brothers on the FB shave forums who’ve been shaving with their ‘blue steel’ vintage razors, I decided to give mine a spin. The edge on my Boston-based Smith Bros. 11/16 is truly superb, and every bit as sharp as the Feather Supers I prefer in my Tedalus and Feather DX. Three very pleasant, comfortable mug passes easily put the baby to bed, leaving me smooth as a peach!

My noggin shave was excellent as well. As many know, my preference in safety razors are my SE’s, both AC and standard. I’m very much a fanboy of the Durham Enders Speed Shaver. These little SE’s really do the job smoothly and efficiently. As far as vintage shavers go, they are, along with my Shake Sharps, hands sown, my favorite noggin shavers. Two ATG passes left me velveteen smooth from neck to noggin.

RAZOR: Smith Bros. Blue Steel 11/16 (Mug), Durham Enders Speed Shaver (Dome)
BLADE: Schick Proline B-20 Injector (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handled Hybrid Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Old Spice Fresh Lime AS Splash (Indian Version).

They look hard enough(from pictures on the website.) But if they provide skin-food(as they say), then the more the merrier.

Razor : Yaqi V2 Excalibur AC 50mm- Mfg 2021> excellent tame mid range, interesting design for clamping, very nimble, small head parts. A joy to use and affordable.
Blade :Schick proline P30,AC, 50mm (4)- Sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity for a AC blade IMO.
Soap : Speick stick, nice mild spicy scent with excellent lather qualities. Triple milled for longevity.
Brush : Yaqi Deep rocks 24mm boss knot- excellent lather generator, cloud like tip softness, nice scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock blue barber with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).

Here it is for Saturday-3rd day of my Throwback Week:

    prep-Nivea 4 Men (Fresh Wave)in shower
    shave-Barbasol Original Cream*
    razor-Gillette Sensor Deuce Pivot DisposeABLE
    A.S. Osage Rub**

    *
    1919
**This is becoming a puzzler. I think in recent uses on a Throwback Day I said around 1940. Now, OR has been bought by the same company that now has Clubman, so they're saying 1810, when Edouard Pinaud(who got Clubman up and going)was born. This is an ongoing investigation. Either way, though, it's a classic old-school aftershave.

    Greetings,

    (Face & head Shave.)

    (Chinese Razor & Blade Week.)

A new shave set up to start the weekend...It's been a long time since i used my Ming Shi 2000s. Maiden shave with the Ming Shi MP-063 blade, which came free with the razor....The verdict?....I will be honest and say when ever i get free blades with a razor i normally avoid them like the plague but i was curious to try them out however i did have another tried & tested Chinese made blade on standby just in case the Ming Shi MP-063 felt below the grade and not up to the standard that i require .. After i had done my usual hand-stropping to remove any burrs or imaginary ones from the blade edges, as i do with any new blade before i pair it together with the razor the Ming Shi 2000s razor & blade duo paired together really well they are not the sharpest of blades, but felt smooth and efficient, and most importantly caused no 'blood sport' to the shave performance.

The Ming Shi 2000s razor alone, like most of my more assertive razor's has improved my shaving confidence and technique multitude.

I never thought in a million years I would use such an efficient razor especially for a head shave...practicing my technique has gave me the shaving confidence to do so.

An enjoyable acceptable close face & head shave with errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face and precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.
