This is one great shaver. 50’s are my favorite decade for vintage razors. The best (in my personal opinion) Gillettes made in the US, and the classic Merkur Progress - one of the best shavers ever designed - in Germany.

The Arko Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #47 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Vintage German DE Travel Razor and the Gillette Super Blue Blade X3 Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Lilac Vegetal After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Wowwwwwwwwwwww is really all I can say - this Frosted Bay Rum soap and aftershave have the most MAGNIFICENT bay rum scent I’ve ever experienced. The soap is a tallow based treasure with some of the best lather, the menthol sensation is POWERFUL, and the postshave feeling is so soothing as well as comfortable. The Prep always delivers very generously on the moisturizing along with a nice menthol cooling, and the Frosted Bay Rum aftershave is a bona fide face freezer - its scent is not only delightful, it has great staying power. What a brilliant three pass BBS shave this was! Now I’m heading to the synagogue to lead the morning services!

It was discontinued something like 25 years ago here in Canada but then it came back in Italy for a few years. Then it was discontinued again over there and since then it’s gone everywhere.

A pity because to use it is to love it.
