I also have the Progress. My Variant is the closed comb. I can't say one is significantly better for me, but I think I can tell a difference. I use many different blades, so I would probably need to do a side by side to make an informed opinion about it.

Lather: Proraso Green Shaving Soap.
Blade: Gillette Winner Platinum. (D1)
Razor: Parker 92R.
Razor: Gillette Guard. (Head/Dome) (D3)

Post:
Cold Water Face & Head Rinse./Cold water face & Head wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils.5 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With Care+Witch Hazel./Aloe Vera Gel./Yelken Lemon Eau De Cologne.

Early morning face & head shave....The Proraso eucalyptus & menthol soap gave my face sensors a wonderful cooling kick this morning making the shave a pleasurable experience.

Finishing the shave off a with a generous splash of Yelken Lemon Eau De Cologne.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.

Hi all,
I had another lovely Shave Tonight with the Alpha Shaving Stubble vs Steel Guido razor using the safety bar base plate this time.
I found the the Guido was very slightly more efficient with the open comb base plate (my opinion only) but as for smoothness
it has to go to the safety bar base plate I am in agreeance with @lu20vt on that.
As I stated previously Paste & Cut razor review guru will no doubt do a full review on this DE razor.

One pass WTG/AGT Done! no nicks no touch ups no worries.

Finished of nicely with Ogallala bay rum and sweet orange splash.

Tabac Tuesday

This Krona is more efficient than the Gillette TTOs, while maintaining the same shave comfort.
However, I like using it with modern Gillette blades more than with the contemporary Schick Stainless blades that came with it. I found them to be sharp but a little rough.

The Tabac Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #47 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Vintage German DE Travel Razor and the Gillette Super Blue Blade X3 Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
