Oh la la, this was a wonderful shave which gave me such enjoyment. The Glacial Obsidian soap has a very strong black licorice scent which doesn't linger afterwards, and the lather is a pleasure to work with. The menthol effect is the same as with the other Glacial soaps - in other words, it could just about give a man frostbite or freezer burn. Another excellent feature is how moisturizing and protective the skincare is. The Avalon Organics peppermint-scented lotion is awesome - it smells very nice and has a stronger cooling effect than I thought. The Skin Bracer was the perfect "icing" on the cake!

This noon I bowl lathered the shave cream and the result was really good, very satisfying. I love supermax blue diamond blades. The blade glided easily although its fourth day and I had a brilliant BBS today. Nivea after shave and cream softened and moistured my skin very well.

A very nice shave, but I had a slight reaction to something in the soap. It was a very mild burning not unlike a good dose of menthol. It left my face and neck red. Other than that, it was a fantastic shave.

LASS Woody Lavender. Great soap, great scent! I just got some more Viking’s Sword blades from Israel (thanks again to PanChango for sending my my first few!). They are another Personna blade. I had not used one for some time. My bad. Excellent shave: smooth, close, and nick free.
I finished with Grey Flannel.

No shower this AM, but I spent extra time letting the TSD preshave balm soften my stubble. As usual, the Speick whipped up into enough lather for two of us to share within less than two minutes, providing great cushion and glide. Unfortunately, the Big Ben was showing signs of wear and tear before 6 passes were even completed, producing a little irritation on my neck. Other than the irritation from the blade, the Speick AS left my skin feeling toned and terrific.

WOW! The frozen tundra whipped up beautifully with the WD Synthetic. For some reason I enjoy the cold hands/tingling from menthol.
Go out and get it!

 

No. This was the second time using the soap. I didn't take notice the first time. The irritation is all but gone. I may try again tomorrow and see if I get the same results.

 

The same thing happens to me. I'm not sure what ingredient I'm getting the reaction from. It doesn't last long, but it's noticeable.

I went on another soap buying binge last week. This time my AD had me looking for soapy, clean smells. My interest in Prep came from the fact that is was supposedly formulated in the US in the 1860's (according to the Italian Barber site). I think it smells like noxema, my wife says clove. At any rate, it's the type of scent I was looking for, maybe not soapy but clean. Great lathering soap with good protection during the shave and post shave. What I would call light menthol and the scent doesn't hang around post shave. BTW, very good shave this morning.
I have one more soap to try out of this round and have found a couple of real pearls so far. Have a good one.

My first DE shave of the week—so why not go all out and use the not-so-subtle 2011 version of the R41?
Two passes (WTG, XTG) using a new Feather got me close enough so I'll probably not need to shave tomorrow.
Great razor—although it's hyper-aggressiveness may not be to everyone's tastes—but it will remain a permanent fixture in my DE rotation.
