    Saturday morning ...

Hot Shower w/ Noxema Original Deep Cleansing Cream
    Proraso White Soap
    Vulfix 404
    Proraso Pre-Shave
'73 Black Handle SS w/ Treet Dura Sharp (1)
    Warm + Cold Water Rinse
    Floid Blue
    Nivea Anti-Irritation ASB

What a fantastic start this was to a wonderful long Canada Day weekend! I knew from the first pass it was going to be good, everything was perfect. I really had to remind myself not to chase after a BBS shave. I didn't, but dragged out a slow methodical 4 passer with some touchups, into about a 95% BBS super fine freash shave. then it was stragiht to my barber :D I wish I could start every day with an hour long shave and then a barber visit. The Treet is a new blade for me, first impressions, really nice. We'll see how it holds up after a couple shaves.

Prep: Tepid Water Shower, Brush soaking in hot water
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum
Brush: 1950's Stanley Flat Top Badger Brush
    Soap: TSD Sandalwood
    Cream: TSD Wheat Cream Sandalwood
    AS: Pinaud Clubman
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Naturally Fresh Alum, Second Rinse, Bath of Clubman.

It is hard to go wrong with any of the variants within the EJ DE89 family. I do not think I could give myself a weeper with this razor even if I tried. I cannot never get a true BBS out of it, but does that really matter? I have a DFS that is closer than any cartridge that I have ever used, and never have any irritation.

The Sandalwood mixed with the Clubman could possibly be a match made in heaven. I think I shall purchase some Australian Sandalwood oil and mix in with my next purchase of Clubman.

Stupid easy BBS. Blade is noticeably smoother than yesterday, but I avoided areas where nicks are still healing. Blade is now approaching comfort and smoothness level of my fav old Gillettes.

a/s - vintage Timberline spiked with redwood oil I mentioned in the a/s folder. GOOD STUFF. I smell like the the Brawny towel guy looks.

Sublime. Outstanding shave this morning. The edge is dialed in on this razor and I had comfortable, close shave. Using the big boar was nostalgic and makes me wonder why a person would need anything else. Comfortable and relaxing covers this mornings shave to a tee. Enjoy your day. A couple of handles in the rough included.

My friend, how far do you live from Yeniköy or Bebek? Or perhaps Arnavutköy? The reason I ask is because these places are wonderful to be in during the summer. Nothing like supper or even breakfast at a nice restaurant on the Bosphorus! ;)

    Chabrawichi 555 Cologne

It's official - this Turkish horsehair is now officially my soap brush because it whips up such beautiful lather and so easily. The Lemon Ice soap smells so nice and the cooling effect is almost strong enough to be rated as :Animatedfrozensmily:on the menthol scale. I enjoyed the even colder feeling of the 444 balsam, and the Iced Lime aftershave and the Egyptian-made Chabrawichi cologne were a perfect finish to this awesome shave! ;) :D

I know man....I used to live in Kuzguncuk....My house was right on the Bosphorus on the Asian side directly across from Ortakoy....There was always a cool breeze....my music room had a sliding glass door facing the Bosphorus and I'd have band rehearsals and that sliding door would be open and a nice cool breeze always blowing from the Boshorus....Every cat in town wanted to rehearse at my house in the summer....lol...We'd sit out on the lawn and just dig the Boshorus...and no matter how long I lived there the view always took my breath on a daily basis...

Here you go Jeff, this should stimulate some fond memories...This is a recording I made and my wife put a slide show of the Boshorus on it...Some are pictures she took...and the 8th and 12th pictures after the album cover...or the 1st and 5th pictures after the one of me playing trumpet were taken from our front yard...no kidding...I would have loved to have had you over my friend...:)

    Blade: Rite Aid SE
    Cream: Arko Stick
    Brush: 22mm Silvertip
    Razor: Gem Micromatic Clog-Pruf
Post: Nivea Cool Kick Arctic Freeze
2+ pass and what a shave! I just got my Gem in the mail and first shave was today. I'm very impressed. I wasn't sure how I was going to do with a SE but it was fantastic. I few more weepers than normal but that's probably because of me not having used a SE before.

Man, if that's the worst result you got just starting out with a Micromatic, WITH a store-brand blade, no less, you are destined for great things! :happy088:

    TSD English Fern splash :love029: :love029: :love029:

Another great shave from the Cobra, nice BBS face and head, blade still showing signs of life but I think the next shave will be the last for that blade,we'll see.The soap and the splash wow, what a great scent and performers. The soap was nice and slick and the splash not only smells great but lasts a long time.I tried some yesterday after the mailman came with my package,I could still smell traces of the splash when I went to bed at midnight. This is a way better deal than that other English Fern splash that costs over 80 bucks, and probably has better stuff in it as well. JoAnna outdid herself on this one.

Let's just say some store-found blades are better than others; sounds like you have a good brand.

As to what's good/better, you pretty much can't go wrong with Ted Pella coated stainless blades (I say that as much as I enjoy carbon SE blades, which can be tricky to use but rewarding). If you've not tried a Pella, PM me.
