Harris Chatsworth Blade: Super Iridium Brush: Simpson Colonel in Two Band Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Soap: Taylor Avocado A/S: Alt Innsbruck The Taylor Avocado and Simpson Colonel combined to produce an excellent lather...kept warm in my Moss Scuttle. The Harris Chatsworth is what I like to call mild but efficient. Three passes and my face is very smooth. The Alt Innsbruck was the cherry on the sundae...very nice.

Thursday EJ89L Lord Platinum (5) Thater 4125/2 D.R. Harris Marlborough stick Nivea Sensitive balm Alcolado Glacial Pinaud Clubman Got the Harris from the Grab box and the only thing I can think of why it was there was because of the scent. I grated it into a stick which mellowed it out some. I was unsure about using it because of the fragrance is strange but it yields a very creamy, silky, slick lather. All of the sudden the fragrence takes a back seat to the performance, capped off by Clubman. Seems like an odd couple but they compliment each other really well.
Steve, how do you strop your DE blades...I tried several different methods that I've picked-up on the internet, but none that I have tried has improved my normal excellent shaves...IE:how many strops per one side of edge...Do you do all strops on one side of edge then flip and do other side of edge...Then turn blade to other edge...etc. or alternate. One strop one side of edge then other side of same edge back and forth then after completing that edge turn blade and do the same for the other edge...Do you strop against the heel of your palm, or back of arm or belt etc ? I'm curious what your regimen is as it has really seemed to work for you...And I'm sure even counting the YMMV factor, it would help others out as well...Thanks

Thursday, June 30, 2011 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: Merkur Futur Blade: Rapira Swedish SuperSteel Brush: Omega Bambino Boar Soap: Proraso (green tub) A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Splash Well, this was the 5th excellent shave on this blade, so I hereby induct the Rapira SuperSteel into my personal Hall of Favorites, Blade Division, with full application of all rights and privileges pertaining thereto. I'm sure I could get a 6th shave, but I won't push my luck. The tiny Omega brush performed very well--I may include that brush in my travel kit. A splash of Proraso A/S left me feeling very cool and refreshed.
>click< 5 strokes each edge, each side, on my palm. 5 strokes one edge one side, rotate blade, 5 strokes other edge same side, flip blade, repeat. There a three schools of thought: A - I hand strop all my blades. It works. My blades last longer and my shaves are smoother. 2 - I don't hand strop. It doesn't do a bloody thing. third - I don't hand strop. Even if it does work, I'm not going to waste my time on a 15 cent blade. I'm in the 'A' class.
Gillette Old Style head on Star handle/Perma-Sharp Blade/Burma Shave soap/Omega Mighty Midget Brush/Polar Ice AS/Tet-a-Tet Russian ASB Yesterdays shave with the old style was so good I had to repeat it. The Handle from the Star adds the heft that I've found old style's to lack. The Burma shave soap gives a great tallow lather with a very soapy smell. It's a worthy addition to a vintage OS mug. Too bad production of the soap was stopped over 5 years ago. The lather explodes like Arko, smells like williams, but is slick like MWF. A heavenly soap by my standards. The shave was so good, I broke down and used the Tet-a-Tet ASB which I ration and only use on special occasions. As I'm not sure if I'll be able to find another vendor that carries it since Britivia closed. All in all a remarkable shave to start the day. Great shaves today, Gentlemen

I actually got a jump on injector week by using my Gillette injector for the first time on Sunday, and I must say I was disappointed in the shave I received. I had read that the Gillette injector was mild, and I like mild razors, but after 2 passes I had so much stubble left over I switched to a D/E to finish out the shave and make it passable. Hope your shaves pick up...I love my Schick, this has been alot of fun, but I'm also looking forward to the "Super Speed Love" Week kick-off on the 4th of July...When the weather's this hot...The SS comfort zone is sooo Summer friendly...

Gillette Old Type Bull Mastiff Voskhod (5) Simpson Chubby 2 Best Bigelow SC Alum Superior 70 Bay Rum A very nice shave this evening. I wasn't a big fan of the Bigelow SC and was only using it to finish up the tube, but something has changed and I find myself reaching for it more often. I really think that I might even replace the tube when I finish this one. Everything else was fantastic. The Voskhod showed no signs of slowing down after 5 shaves. I will see how number 6 goes tomorrow, unless my OCMM shows up.
