Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Razor: Merkur Long-Handled Progress Blade: Super Iridium Brush: Vulfix VS/5 Boar Soap: Valobra Soft Soap (Almond) A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Proraso Splash The first time that I used Valobra, I thought it was OK but I probably wouldn't be replacing it after it was used up. But it has grown on me over the last year and I really like it now. The Vulfix boar brush worked well with it this morning and made a nice, protective lather with little effort. The Proraso splash provided an excellent finish.

Happy Wednesday From Steamy Florida! Hot Shower Feats Of Clay Scuttle Lea SC (review HERE) Sabi badger Conrad Razor Company Open Comb Dorco 301 corked and stropped (1) Cold Water Splash Alum Block Witch Hazel Hoyt's Cologne (review HERE) 3 Passes = DFS First shave with the Feats Of Clay scuttle from Robert. What a nice guy he is! He agreed to fire me up a scuttle in purple, my favorite color! The Conrad open comb is a decent razor, but I do not think I am a fan of open comb's, so I will probably PIF this razor. The Hoyt's cologne was probably the inspiration for English Leather. It is a good scent and SWMBO likes it!
I use one of Roberts Scuttles every day and it's great! I fill it, microwave it for 3 minutes and the water reaches 150F. I use it during the shave and afterwards it's still 140F! My badger brush and lather heats up great as well. It's super hot when I apply the lather to my face. You're gonna love it Jeff!

Thursday: Parker 99r razor Shark SuperChrome blade Arko SS Omega Boar brush Anherb Balm Osage Rub Barbasol Pacific Rush A/S For some reason I had trouble getting a good lather today. Very strange since Arko usually explodes with great lather. Hurt the shave though it was still very nice.

It has a very menthol scent, however: The cooling effect is very WEAK, although it can be felt more so after a shave. The Visal gel is enough to freeze your face off--I love it!

Thursday- July 1 EJ 86 Feather Re-knot wood handle w/TGN 20mm pure Erasmic stick (tallow) Spiced Scent I decided to break out some items from the den that don't see much action. My face hasn't touched a Feather blade in over a year, having been sliced, diced, and beet-red raw. I was careful to hand-strop the blade this morning and take my time, focusing on the perfect angle. Well, I came away quite surprised. The blade effortlessly glided across my face, mowing down everything in its way, and leaving my skin smooth and comfortable. The Erasmic stick was excellent as well, producing loads of cushiony, protective lather, providing an ultra close and comfortable shave.
