I probably should have skipped this mornings shave after the massacre yesterday morning. The dome needed more time to heal. But being the dedicated addict that I am, I soldiered on, just at a much slower pace...

Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (6, 7)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock One-X AS Splash

Ding! Blade's done! Since I had a little trouble finding the right ratio of water on the One-X yesterday, I decided to go at it again, bowl-lathering so I could see my progress better. While I didn't quite achieve the lather appearance that Shawna did, above, I quickly had enough yogurt-like lather for about 12 passes, which was way more than necessary after yesterday's BBS. The tallow and aftershave splash left my skin DFS+ and feeling amazing. . . in those places where the blade's rapid demise didn't cause scraping or irritation. While I had intended to continue blade testing tomorrow with the Asco, I may be best served to go back to a known commodity for the next few days to normalize expectations.

    TUESDAY
Back to work & Happy July!

After a one-day shaving hiatus, it felt good to get back at it again this morn! Ryan's recent RazoRock XXX soap review got me to break out the tub of it.
Great lather over a two-day growth. One of my better straight razor shaves using my recently-honed Worecster 11/16! I even ventured the 'Fool's Pass' and still have upper lip and nose intact… ;)
    Have a great Tuesday, all!

    MDC Fougere (Martin de Candre)

    Post: Alum sprayed on
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented
    AS: Sampsons all natural

Yesterday I received a PIF from a fellow member containing samples of MDC regular, MDC Fougere, and Valobra Fougere. Today I tried the MDC Fougere. The lather, easily obtained, provides a well cushioned and slick shave. The scent is, IMHO, very light and barely noticeable.

This is definitely a superior soap. I can see why a lot of people love this. My face feels fresh, clean, and hydrated. There were absolutely no issues with the performance of this soap even though it was my first time using it. The lather is forgiving in terms of amounts of water and air. However, I still have a problem with the $100.00 price tag associated with MDC. I will try it again tomorrow and see how much I like it after a second use.

Actually $100 will get you nearly two tubs of the stuff ($54 for a 200g glass jar)—still not cheap, but it lasts seemingly forever.

Prep: Warm wash with Stirling Barbershop bath soap
    Lather: Tiki Set Sail vegan
    Brush: Vie-Long Lord Randal mixed
    Razor: Gillette NEW
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime

Everything about this set up is just working. I used it for almost every shave in June and will continue until the Tiki soap is done. FYI, I started this soap on May 22 and have used it every day except for about 6 in the interim. The shave was pretty good, with a little sting showing up on my right cheek, but AS calmed it right down.

    Prep: CeraVe cleanser
    Soap: Tiki Bar, unscented
Brush: Mühle hjm black fiber synthetic
    Razor: Schick injector, type I
    Blade: Schick
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe

Another outing for the type I injector today. The injector is easy to handle and use, and it is a cinch to get the correct angle, just hold the head flat against the skin.

The Tiki bar soap was dependably great again today.

Great news this morning hearing Sofia is doing much better today. :)
It's going to be another really hot one today so I'm starting early. I've been using the DE's the last couple of days; just too busy lately and they need some use as well as the straights. I really like the PC Royal Water Creed SS. It's a very classy masculine scent and goes well with the British Sterling Cologne. :happy088:
