    July 1st 2014, Morning shave

    Prep : shower + clearasil
    Brush : Semogue 1305
    Razor : Edwin Jagger DE89
Soap : Martin de Candre Fougere
Blade : Israeli Personna - Vikings Sword (3)
    Post : Tarr lotion

Great shave for the first day of July :) Edwin Jagger is my first razor, for a long period I found it too aggressive. However with the right blade and after my technique has improved I find out I get great shaves and no irritations. After I found out my lather was too dry and after I found the right angle, the blade cut my whiskers like a hot knife cuts butter. C'est génial, formidable, très réussi ! :)

    Brush: Muhle Black Fiber Synthetic
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Post: Omega balm

Why two razors? The MMOC never get's me a satisfactory shave unless I go ATG on the chin. I don't like to go ATG on chin so I took out the '24. As close as you're going to get to a straight razor in a safety IMO.

    Tuesday:
hot shower w/SallyeAnder Patchouli and Frankincense bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    1950 Gillette SuperSpeed 2+ passes
    Gillette Wilkinson (3)
    Marble Shave Set boar
    Dr Dittmar soap
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Brut Dominant AS lotion

I had everything out to take a photo this morning but got interrupted. It would have looked just like yesterday's with the exception of blade choice and aftershave. I sent the SallyeAnder "premium shave" soap to the shower since it's worthless for shaving. It still may end up as sock drawer fragrance.

    Bay Rum Day
Today I used almost all my Bay Rum products, including the new HTGAM tonic, and some locally made natural deodorant. Everything from my shower with HTGAM bay rum shampoo and conditioner to the Classic. Bay Rum soap complimented each other perfectly.

The aftershave was surprising. There was more menthol than I expected, and the alum produced a burn today - likely due to poor technique. This could end up being a good teaching tool, like alum blocks don't burn at all if the shave was smooth.

Prep: warm shower, RR/HTGAM lime menthol
Soap: HTGAM Synergy Classic Bay Rum
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: iKon SC101
    Blade: Personna blue (2)
    AS: HTGAM Bay Rum Tonic

This shave was not very enjoyable. I experienced a lot of tugging and pulling. I decided to break out my Wizamet Jr. DE. It was made sometime between the 60's- 80's in the old Soviet bloc Poland. I've only used it twice, so I know my angle was off. The angle is kind of weird with this razor. It's made out of aluminum, so it's extremely light. I will have to do some more work with this razor.

The most enjoyable part of this shave was the intense freezing effect I experienced.

I tried SallyeAnder shaving soap, also. I don't remember what scent, but like you, found it to be totally worthless. It wasn't even any good as a shower soap.

Cheap Soap Month continues with Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap. It was a great face lather using my VDH Natural Boar brush that I had face lifted. For a cheap brush, it did a marvelous job. I did just two passes with my Schick M Adjustable with Schick stainless blade and ended with a clean, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... I am also stoked because my new J.M. Schmidt straight razor is scheduled for delivery today. Woo-hoo!
