The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #182 Synthetic brush. I did the first pass with the Gillette 195 razor and Rockwell Swedish Stainless blade and second/clean up pass with New Improved, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Comrades, the Glory of the Motherland, Russian steel, delivered one of my most stellar shaves ever today - all whiskers and traces of them are now nyet. I've never had such a close shave and virtually no noise from the alum from any straight before. It was glorious comrades, da, glorious.

With all the new sets Ive required recently I haven't mixed and matched for quite some time. It took forever to choose a soap/aftershave combo...the down side of having way too many options If B&M would have offered a matching aftershave I wouldn't of had this dilemma.

Trials and Tribulations

Back to Trials tonight after some real tribulations last night. The cut is visible but not too badly so. So I did have to modify my pass around it a bit tonight to avoid reopening it. Shouldn't take more than another day or so to be all gone.

The Super-Max Platinum is a blade I've used before. It's been awhile though so I don't remember much other than it wasn't horrible. On the mild setting it provided a nice DFS finish with very quiet alum. I'd say it is a mid-sharp blade at most that should perform better as we take it up in aggressiveness. I'd say I'm in for a few good shaves before moving on. I will say this about the Super-Max line, I don't think I've ever had a truly bad shave from one of their blades so this run of trials should be good overall.

I finally got around to trying Catie's Bubbles Maggard's 2017 soap, and I should not have waited so long. Excellent thick lather for three easy passes. My allergy stricken nose could pick up that it was a citrusy scent, but not much more. It seemed to go nicely with RP CB. My return to voskhod blades was rewarded with a very smooth and comfortable result.

Today's shave was very nice. The synthetic silvertip knot whipped up a freezing love (ly) lather with four drops oug m-bomb. I had to work at getting the lather just the way i like it, inspired to re-estimate the status of synthetic knots compared to a badger. The end result, I achieved the goal, biut not as effortlessly as a badger would have. Further estimation oncoming. Three passes with the massive Jack Black muhle headed hybrid. It did very well for a razor with a five inch weighted handle. Bbs results everywhere but just under my chin. Triple finish with alum, Rosa, and Love balm.
