    Shaving with a Snake

Yet another snake shave, yet another superbly smooth shave. I am so glad I took with me this Mastro Livi Snake Razor in my monthly business trip. I like everything about this straight razor, and I must admit the "snake point" - or "Mastro Livi Point", as it was conceived by him - is incredibly efficient and precise in shaving the hardest spots of my face. A very special mention to the Palmolive Shave Cream: a super cheap soap however delivering an excellent shave and performance. At least here in Italy it is very easy to get a tube for less than one euro and - at a such competitive price - it is one of the very best soap around, one you can trust for its reliability and smooth result.
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: Palmolive Shave Cream
    • Brush: Omega Professional Brush #48
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi CarboInox Snake Razor, 8/8 Full Hollow, Snake Point
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
    • After Shave: Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla

Makes me wonder if the Canoe guys said "Hey, let's try to match this Pinaud Clubman"

    THURSDAY
Morning shave with this restored vintage wedge from Sheffield maker, Marshes & Shepherd, Mitchell's Wool Fat applied with an Omega boar, and finished off the shave with a splash of home-made 'Blackriver' bay rum. Excellent shave!
    Have a great Tuesday, all!

It's cold and nasty weather here today so I decided to back off from the strong menthol. The Fall's Lumberjack soap from Henri et Victoria is very, very nice - so easy to lather with a mild outdoorsy scent. The ingredients list shows menthol but the cooling effect is very subdued. The Bergamot Vetiver aftershave from Henri et Victoria smells great and is quite cooling with a wonderful feeling. Today's shave was excellent! :happy088: :happy088:

That has to be one of the coolest straight razors I have ever seen, very nice!

Curveball is actually an old discontinued Stirling. A cologne type scent based on Liz Claiborne's Curve that seemed to fade out after Executive Man was released. I am not great with scents, but I would call it a light musk??! I am sort of hoarding it, because I don't expect a return.

Different level of citrus. I would say Hydra is more tangy with that sharper, acidic aroma which I like and the Citrus Blast you have the citrus but has been toned down with some apple and berry so sweeter, tad milder aroma. I like both of them in the aroma category but shave wise the Citrus Blast has better lather ability, razor glide and post shave feel in MHO or at least it does for me.

Nice pic today Robert. At first glance I thought the Tabac stick was a glass of beer and thought you must have had one heck of a workout at 5:30 in the morning!

This is my favorite Doctor Who - Tom Baker. I thought it was appropriate to use 42, since Douglas Adams wrote some of the best episodes back then. It was an excellent shave, the scent has a British note in the tea, in my opinion.

The Gear is all right, but I might switch to the regular Mennen deodorant or a gel(Mennen) next. The Gear doesn't say "by Mennen" on it-perhaps it's too "new". Thik I'll stick with the Platinum as a summer bodywash, now that I have Aqua Velva AS. With the "Cool" bodywash and AV, it'd be like using two antivirus programs for the same computer.
