I honed the Wapi a bit because it was a bit dull. I'm sort of a novice at honing and I only have a Shapton 16k. Still, enough passes on that should make it sharp. I've honed Tosukes on it and they came out super sharp. I hit my linen strop with it and I gave it 40 passes on latigo. It passed the HHT on some spots of the razor and on others it did not.

Anyway, I was not happy with this shave. I'm not sure I'm happy with the Wapi. The brush performed beautifully. I did 3 passes - WTG, XTG, ATG. I've been doing the 3 pass straight shave lately with nothing but BBS results, but tonight I gave myself another ATG pass with my Mergress / Red Personna (3) to touch up because the Wapi couldn't get it done.

It may speak to the need to lap my hone. It may also speak to the need to use a not-so-fine grit hone on the Wapi before I hit the 16k with it. I should be getting great shaves with it, but I haven't used it since before I was getting good shaves with a straight. Maybe its the razor, or maybe the hone needs a little work, or maybe its my lack of experience. For the time being, I'm not going to blame the razor... but that said, I got a crap shave tonight. I managed BBS, but only after jumping through hoops to get there.

More than you wanted to know, but you read it anyway. You've only yourself to blame. ;)

Nice shave this morning, but a little too hurried. The Nacets are terrific blades--very sharp, but smooth. ;) :D

Thursday: Gillette Slim Adjustable / Wilkinson of India blade d2 / Mama Bears SS / VDH Boar Brush / Florida Water Cologne

I just can't get Adjustables to work for me, always get a "meh" shave from them. I don't get it cuz I get great shaves for fixed head razors.

    Razor: '57 Red Tip
Blade: Gillette Super Stainless "Spoiler" day 2
    Soap: C&E Sandalwood
    A/S: Old Spice

As close to the "perfect" shave as I've ever gotten. Virtually no touchup needed after the usual three-pass. The Red Tip is really emerging as the star of my collection.

    Thursday 3/19 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
      [*]Brush: Ever Ready 50N Boar
      [*]Soap: Tabac
[*]Razor: '22 Gillette NEW Standard - Silver
      [*]Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (shave 5)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & Clubman Club Complete ASB
      [*]EDT: Tabac EDT

[*]Result: Fine BBS shave. Considering it has been 3 days since a razor touched my face what do you expect. Today was an experiment in shaving for me. Used a boar brush for the first time and found it okay. Got the thing from D.Irving79. I did have to reload the brush after each pass but that was not a problem. Brush not as stiff as I had imagined. Nice and soft yet a bit scrubby. Did a nice job overall with face lathering.

The Futur/7 O'clock combination continues to impress, even with the Futur dialed down low. Today was my first go with the Mr. Taylors cream. Nice stuff, and a great complement to the Racquets.
