Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
Soap: Mike's unscented
Brush: Plisson synthetic
Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
Blade: Astra SP
After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

I am taking a tour of my unscented soaps this week, using exactly the same hardware everyday.

Sunday: Tiki Bar unscented soap
Monday: Mike's Natural unscented soap

Mike's soap is a dependable performer for me, but today I got the lather wrong, with too much water. Probably caused by my lack of experience with the new synthetic brush.

This brush does not behave like my HIS brushes, which I know well. The Plisson brush does not hold water well, and I learned quickly that a firm shake will take out almost all the water in it. Knowing that Mike's is a thirsty soap, I didn't shake the wet brush out before loading on the soap. This was too much water, and although I was able to work up a thick lather, it was too wet, without as much cushioning as I would expect from the Mike's soap.

I don't want to get derailed on day two of my soap tour, but I am thinking about repeating Mike's tomorrow to see if I can get it right.

 

MONDAY
St. Paddy's Day

I had a very nice shaving experience this morning with my initial use of this Bingham Big-Bladed beauty. The razor took a real fine edge yesterday when I honed it up and my efforts paid off as it shaved beautifully—not a tug or pull to be found. Use of this fine old razor was complimented by the old-timey barbershop scent of the RazoRock XXX lather.

Soap: The Shave Den Cooper Square shave soap with 4 drops of TSD MBomb menthol additive
After: Home made ASB, Shea Moisture Shave After Shave Elixir
Cologne: Tabac Rouge sample

Another fine 2 pass Darn Fine Shave + today. Everything worked well together. Have a happy and safe St Patrick's Day!
