    March Madness!!!

March 16 Moving on toward moving. On.

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Stirling Ozark Mountain
Brush - Stirling Synthetic Pro Type
    Post - Alum

One of the comments on last night's shave had to do with my staying at 6 on the Fatboy. I almost felt like my shaving skills were being questioned. Almost. But, it is probably true that for me to use the Fatty on less than "setting me" could be seen as a bit of a cop out. After all, I've certainly shaved with more dangerous items than a wide open 195. Just for the sake of transparency I use 6 because it's one of the easiest settings and setups that I can get a quick BBS with. Lazy way out. So, ok, I'll take the suggestion/shaming and load up a nice sharp Russki blade and open that Gillette all the way.

Stirling brush and soap tonight. Haven't had the pleasure of the Ozark Mountain for far too long. Man I love this soap. Three full passes just so I could keep lathering away with it and the baby is in the house on quiet alum. Yep, I'm glad my dedication was called into question. I needed that shave.

Your weekend has arrived! (Most of you anyway). Hope it's a good one. My Monday is calling and I have five days to make some money ahead of me. It's St. Patrick's Day tomorrow and my slightly evil wife is daring me to wear my kilt to work tomorrow. It's a Kerry County tartan so would fit very well. We'll see in the morning.

After a discussion with a member on another forum I decided to try this razor with the pivot lock off to see if it works without applying any pressure.
Well it does work, so well in fact, that it skims over the stubble ineffectively. These razors are designed to require pressure.
Second pass I put the lock on and it was much better but two passes (really four) to remove about sixteen hours stubble.
If I want a quick shave I'll stick with injectors.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #268 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Henry Taylor 5/8 Straight Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Another excellent shave just before but I noticed that the Astra blade seems to be getting kind of dull. There was no way I could get three passes from it, although two were enough to give me the desired BBS results. This Klar Kabinett soap lathers like a demon - its scent is not as much like my RVT Roseline soap as I thought. The Klar seems to smell more "girlie" than the Roseline - in other words, the rosy scent is more pronounced but it's still nice. The post-shave care is also not quite as good as the Roseline's but I can't complain. At the last minute I changed my choice of aftershave from Booster Polar Ice to Booster Mosswood - both are terrific!

    Have a good one!

Last shave of the day post for 10 days or so. Heading to Tampa tomorrow with a night's stay in Lumberton, NC. Visiting my son & his family. Get some fishing in. Take in a Grapefruit League game (Phillies at Pirates in Bradenton). Lunches at Carmine's in Ybor City (great Cuban fare). Dinners at Mama Maria's Greek restaurant in Tarpon Springs. Spoil the grand kids. Life is good!

Then it's on to Sevierville, TN to visit my brother & sister in law.

    Soap: RazoRock Classic
    Brush: Omega 10086 boar
    Razor: RazoRock German 37 slant
    Blade: Gillette Nacet (7)
    Aftershave: HBG Florida

    031718.JPG

My travel kit for the duration:

The razor (EJ DE87) and blade choice will be the only constant. I'll switch between the canned cream and aftershaves.

    Later guys.......

I'll try to describe it. First the ingredient list.....SD Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera, Yarrow, Calendula, Chamomile, Elder Flower Bay, Rose, Peppermint, Lavender, Lemon, Essential Oils.

Sniffing the bottle after a good shake, I'm getting kind of a lime / citrus scent. However, after applying to my face I get sort of a coconut scent which is weird. Not unpleasant, just different. Like all HBG splashes, the Florida is very soothing. Slight tingle due to the alcohol, but nowhere near a "burn".

No it’s not. Mine would be the G-2... but it continues to elude me. Some day.

Nevertheless, this Slim is a terrific shaver!

    Happy St. Paddy`s Day

Blade: Guard Single Blade cart (4)
    Lather: Gillette Foamy
    AS: AV Musk/ Afta

Again, the 3 main ingredients, razor, blade and lather make the shave (IMO). I`m getting closer to the kind of shave I get with my Personna Floating Head. A very smooth clean 2 pass, WTG/ATG with XTG clean up, with a minor dabs of lather here and there. Shaving, for most of us is a luxury that is to pamper ourselves with the finer things in life (we deserve it!) I love the better creams, soaps and all the other items that make a shave a work of art. I have come the point where I can use only those razors that I don`t have direct with my shaky hands, I really miss all the fuss I make over myself during `My Time`. I will `Wet Shave` until they put me down. Happy Camper and God Bless to one and all.

    Bill
P.S. It was a great shave!

This is a very quirky design, requiring extreme riding of the cap and attention to angle. At times frustrating, particularly the milder side of the head. It does make me curious to try the Wunderbar which is meant to address many of its deficiencies.[IMG]
