    Razor - 1959 (E1) Gillette Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post - Alum

On to the Ladas blade tonight. A very fine blade and it matches very well with the Super Speed. If you ever wanted to go minimalist this setup would be a fine one. SS, Ladas, Proraso, Stirling Synthetic. Easy, inexpensive and it delivers a great shave. The baby showed up for another appearance and alum was silent. It really doesn't get much better than this. I always like it when a setup like this one works so well because it further proves Technique Trumping Tools. Basic Gillette workhorse razor and a good Russian blade with inexpensive software - as good as any shave that would cost twice as much or more.

Good day today, though the rain crept in late. We got storage set up today and made a couple of runs hauling stuff to save on the work next weekend. About the time we stopped the rain was starting. Tomorrow they are saying rain all day so I feel some more packing and indoor work will be the rule of the day. We're getting there.

Just over a week to go in March and once again it's been a busy and fun month around here! Due to my schedule next weekend I will probably not get April opened up until late on the 31st, so just keep it going here through the end of the month as always! For those wondering - it's Arko Adjustable April! I'm thinking you can figure that one out. One of our traditional monthly themes as we approach MAYhem!!

Thanks for the interest - it is a different blade as is a kamisori style or more accurately, symmetrical non-folding razor (with the same bevel on both sides) so can use both hands when shaving like a western style razor. Is a thick wedge and thus heavy and a bit unwieldy compared to other razors . . . so a challenge to use. Would say Alex Jacques is very talented by the looks of most of his interesting, unique and unusual razor work - and would say he has a sense of humor by his logo below as found on his razors . . . (also has some razor sharpening videos on YouTube - and will have to study them as need this blade sharpened up for my particular beard - and put that mad pumpkin steel to work).

Excellent shave today. This cream is as good or better than any I've used, including T&H and TOBS. I really enjoy the scent as well. I used both the splash and balm because it's been cold in the mornings and the balm leaves my skin so soft.

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Merkur Vision
    Blade: Personna Platinum
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Silver Surfer
    Lather: WSP Tobacco Cream
    Aftershave: WSP Tobacco Balm

Wanneer ek hierdie fantastiese seepe gebruik, begin ek Afrikaans praat!

(Afrikaans for Whenever I use these fantastic soaps I start speaking Afrikaans!)

Just joking, but seriously - this RVT Frosty Bay Rum has it all. A delicious bay rum scent, such awesome lather, and very good menthol cooling with a comfortable post-shave feeling that the bay rum-scented aftershave from Krampert's enhanced. A lovely BBS shave which I enjoyed so much!

    Have a great weekend!

    Jayaruh #266
    Gillette 195 Fatboy on 7
    Astra SP
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Vegetal

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Musgo Real Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #266 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gillette 195 Fatboy Razor on 7 using an Astra SP blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Vegetal AS. It was a fantastic shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Jim, have you stopped using alum? I recall that you once used both alum and witch hazel.

Stirling Sandpiper today. 20 seconds to load the Wild West/Elite Manchurian White brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. I loaded a vintage Personna 74 Tungsten in the Fat Boy. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Stirling Sandpiper aftershave.

That is correct. Haven't used it regularly since July last year. I just do WH followed by my AS. If I ever nick or cut myself I have it on hand, but it has been a long time.

Thanks, Jim. I have never been an alum fan. Have tried it a couple of times with little agreement. I use witch hazel and then aftershave as well.
