*-We just need to recall how things used to be in the "Wild West"". I like to think about my parents who(among many)loved watching Gunsmoke on TV in the late 1950';s. May have gone into the early 60's. but that qualifies this soap for a Throwback.

**-company began in 1830 as Monsieur Pinaud went to work on, among other things, what we know today as Clubman.

 

DE SOTD, Wednesday, March 8th, 2023. Test day #2 of 2 consecutive daily shaves with the Yaqi 2nd generation or(V2) 316 SS Mellon polished razor head.

Razor : Yaqi Mellon head 316 SS polished, 2nd Generation or (V2) + Yaqi "Tear drop" cannon looking polished 316 SS handle- Mfg Jan 2023>, mid range, well machined and finish is great with it's outside parts polished + all of the base plate polished, because it is double combed creates high efficentcy while it is still easily workable with a light touch I'm realizing.
My shaves for 2 consecutive days have been stellar BBS and very enjoyable mostly.
I'm not sure this would be a ideal daily driver for some folks with sensitive skin issues but for tough beards it would be ideal for a daily driver for some folks no doubt I'm estimating the potential results outcome.
The razor is a step up in efficentcy and aggression than previous Yaqi 1st generation Version #1(V1) Zamac Mellon head that I also enjoy and that is a daily driver for lots of folks I'm recalling from my enjoyable experiences.
So I'm happy with my new addition Yaqi Mellon head 2nd Gen V2 and will try a few other blades to see how they perform before giving a final conclusion to using it.
As for the Yaqi "Tear drop" cannon looking 316 SS handle it works well for my needs and is eye candy also for myself, the two rings at the top of the handle are a reference for the balance sweet spot area from my testing and if you find polished handles are to slippery just use a little alum on fingers and it will grip better guaranteed with any razor handle if your wondering or have a beautiful handle that is finished smooth.
Blade : Gillette Astra SP(2) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity. I use this blade for testing new razors for my reference standard gage. A very common blade used also but there are sharp & smooother blades that Gillette also makes IMO.
Soap : Razorock Irish Countryside, nice different unique fresh Irish (Creed?)scent with excellent lather qualities. The RR matching aftershave really is nice with this soap IMO.
Brush : Yaqi "Rainbow" 26mm brown whiskers Mew knot, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock Irish Country side splash with with witch + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper= Excellent shave with my Yaqi 2nd Generation Mellon head 316 SS with a Astra SP blade.

Lather: Haslinger Aloe Vera Shaving Soap.

Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse./Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse. / Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel. /Cien X-Bolt ASL. / L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

An enjoyable shave to finish my shaving week off superbly.

The trusty Merkur 34C has performed wonderfully throughout the week it was my first DE razor along with the Muhle R89 and both razors are still two of my firm favourites to date and will always have a place in my humble DE razor collection.

The efficiency & longevity of the Lord Silver Star SS throughout the week has been excellent feeling smooth & sharp with no indication of dulling. i feel as though the blade could give me another 2 shaves at least, but as I have such a vast amount of DE blades to contend with I will retire it as four good shaves from a blade is more than adequate for me.

A very comfortable 2 pass + pick ups shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine.

This Soek soap from Scheermonnik in the Netherlands is lovely stuff - it’s got a gorgeous scent that I find hard to describe, although it’s not tallow based it gives awesome lather that has lots of slickness, and it has excellent skincare. The Proraso Blue balm is so moisturizing as well as soothing, and I love the old school scent of the English Leather aftershave. Another great three pass fun filled BBS shave!

Y'know, the lady who owns Zingari Man made the suggestion to get Unscented before any other ZM. I didn't, but only because it wasn't on the list to qualify for the discount. Might do it next time(for the soap, not A.S.), as I can then choose any A.S. I have to work with it.
