SE SOTD, Friday, March 29th 2024.

Razor : Yaqi Romulus SE 316 SSP with a Yaqi Chippendale 316SSP handle. Mfg 2023>, mild to mid range depending on blades used or gap spacer used. Small head parts when assembling seem to be easier working on a wash incase of dropping them is what I have discovered and recommend. The combination of handle and head produces nice close comfortable shaves mostly. Has a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titian mild, sharp and smooth with great longevity.
Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice Vanilla and light tobacco scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Deep Stones" 24mm synthetic boss knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle scrubber + excellent lather generator.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless) .
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus SE 316 SSP razor with a Kai Captain titian mild blade.

Went with a full 3 pass shave today after a series of 2 passers. Awesome results, but did see a little red irritation on the neck. Still a very nice shave.

Prep: Warm shower:/Bulldog Original Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
Brush: Omega 10005.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: MWF. (Tallow)
Blade: Personna injector PTFE (D1)
Razor: Gem Micromatic (OC)


Post:

(Face & Head Shave)

A new eclectic shave set up to start the weekend... Two maiden outings with the Omega 10005 boar brush & a combined face & head shave using the Gem Micromatic (OC) Personna injector PTFE blade duo. I was curious to try the hack after the post from Joe @Trigger who reported superb results using the injector blade. My verdict?. I found that hack works superbly the injector blade sits comfortably behind the blade pins and once the top cap was clamped down the blade was even and the blade gap was the same. Most importantly there was no moment in-between each pass.

I forgot how much audio feedback you get from vintage SE razors especially the Gem Micromatic.

I gave the Omega 10005 boar my pre-cleaning ritual a five minute soak in tepid water & pre-wash with baby shampoo, Dettol anti-bacterial & Palmolive hand bars soap leaving it to soak for a few minutes to get rid of any manufacturing nasties, remove any loose hairs repeated the process to remove the faint natural piggy fragrance which the soap removed and finally a rinse with warm & cold water to remove any soap residue. I let the brush fully dry out for 48 hours making it ready to use..I look forward to using the Omega 10005 in my future shaves as I know it'll get better with each outing.

As with any razor shaving confidence, a light touch, & good technique are the key to a comfortable close shave especially the Gem Micromatic (OC).All in all I'm very impressed with the Injector blade hack, the shave felt comfortable with a very close finish. However, If I had to choose between using the Personna Injector PTFE blade /Gem PTFE blade in the Gem Micromatic (OC) then I prefer the Gem blade purely because I still have quite a large amount of Gem PTFE blades which will take some time to use up with future shaves.

I will however continue to pair the Gem Micromatic (OC) with the injector blade again in future shaves.

A very close comfortable face and head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Hugo Boss Dark Blue EdT to the pulse points.

My face & precious swede are both feeling smooth and smelling divine.

The Art Razor Pleasure of Art Shaving Soap lathered well with the Bethlehem Olive Wood Silvertip Badger. Two passes and touch ups with the H. Böker 5/8 Straight gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Dickenson's Witch Hazel and Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

It’s been a while since I last used this Bombay Shaving Company stuff so I decided to go with it this morning and I’m glad that I did. Wow, the scent is so nice - the cream lathers so thick, rich, slick, as well as protective, there’s a mild but pleasant menthol sensation, and it’s so skin friendly. The matching balm has the same nice scent as the cream, it’s so moisturizing, cooling and soothing. Last but not least I went all out with the beautiful Bleu de Chanel fragrance - every time I wear it I get so many compliments. Three passes with my cherished 50s Super Speed gave me such a great BBS shave that I enjoyed from start to finish!

I'm glad the shaving co. still goes by the name "Bombay". To me, the city never should have changed names to "Mumbai". What's next, is my current hometown going to change from Acton to "Acting"??????

Razor : Yaqi "The Final cut" adjustable razor. Mfg 2021>. Well thought out razor and is similar to the Gibbs razor design of the 1930's. Yaqi made this razor maybe even better because it takes standard Gillette blades where the Gibbs took proprietary Gibbs blades and TFC has a scalloped safety bar + is affordable IMO. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : GSB(3) sharp and smoooth.
Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild Rose cream. Nice fragranced rose scented with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Moka Express" 26mm synthetic knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Interesting and enjoyable brush to use I find.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Italian barber Amici splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi TFC adjustable with a GSB blade.
