14th shave. There are days when you feel 'wrong'. Today was one on that days. So I did everything very carefully and still not succeeded. Sideburns and cheeks are smooth, but chin and upper lip not. Well, tomorrow will be better!

Shave Of The Day - March 24th 2011

    • Hot Shower
    • Van Der Hagen Luxury Badger Brush

    • Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend

The new VDH Luxury soap worked a treat, thick rich lather with very nice skincare properties, and a scent that reminds me of The Real Shaving Company's Moisturizing Shave Cream.

Had to rush my shave when I realized I had to be at an appointment 20 minutes earlier than I was originally told, so I didn't get to enjoy the shave as much as I would have liked, so I'll call it 4 blades.

    Omega Wooden Handle
    Parker 22R/Nacet day 5
    Solo Menthol SC :love008 :love008 :love008 :love008

    Lubriderm unscented moisturizer
    Grey Flannel EDT :love008 :love008 :love008 :love008

I feel a bit better than yesterday, so I was able to enjoy this shave. The Solo Menthol cream's cooling effect is very light, but it's still there, and the Eveline Aloe gel is also slightly mentholated, and it smells great and gives excellent soothing. ;) :D

3 Passes = total junk shave. I am flippin' tore up! Red, rash, burn! I should have stopped at two passes. This Pella blade has to go. I prolly buggered it up when installing it some how. I feel like I shaved with a hacksaw!

Actually, I should have used a straight!

    Have a great weekend Ya;ll!

    first posted shave.

today's shave was a bit of a hurry but it was very nice,I continue to make improvements in my technique and am able to tell what works or not.loving it!!

    EJ89 razor(derby SS 1st day)
    VDH soap(love it,first time use)
AOS Pure badger hair, nice companion to the VDH IMHO
    Brut ASB(great ASB for me)
    A.Velva Musk cologne.

overall a great shave but not BBS due to the "fear factor"of the Derby,it was my first time using it so I was careful with it,next time,I will improve on it,and that's what this is all about.I have to thank everyone here,I learn a great deal from you all.Thanks.

Only the second time using Lilac Vegetal! Right now I am not sure whether it smells more like Lilacs or like cat urine! Yet, in some strange way, it is both horrible and addictive. Raised up my sideburns yesterday to about 1/2 inch below the top of my ear. My wife freaked out when she finally noticed it, and demanded I grow them back immediately! Sounds strange, but I think I shaved them so I would just have more area to SHAVE!!!!! :D

    Have a great weekend!

    SHAVE:

    Parker Silver Tip
    Tabac Shave Soap
    Thayer's Cucumber Witch Hazel
Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve Aftershave Cologne

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Razor: Merkur Progress XL
    Blade: Treet Platinum
    Brush: EJ Best Badger
    Cream: Erasmic
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Balm

Close shave today, with one tiny weeper. My impression of Erasmic cream is that the lather is not quite as protective as that made from TOBS, Salter, etc. creams, and so I blame the weeper on that. However, it is entirely possible that I got a little sloppy in my technique. I would rate this morning's shave as BBS if it weren't for the weeper. The witch hazel/ASB combo sealed the weeper and left my face feeling smooth and comfortable.
