Joop (ajdhn) kindly PIFd me a puck of VDH all the way from the Netherlands. He told me when I got it that VDH is an excellent latherer and he wasn't lying. I rubbed the puck all over my whiskers like I do all my hard soaps and it rivals the best, even <gasp> MWF. In fact, as I was rubbing the soap, it started to lather a bit on my face so I stopped. I had plenty for 4 great passes with an old friend, my R-89.

I have been very fortunate this month to have received great soap PIFs from Shawn, Kevin and Joop. Thank you, gentlemen, for your generosity. May the Shave Gods bless you with daily BBS and 700 virgin pucks of Vintage Williams.

 

Hah, no problem! I might give it one more go, but its really not doing anything at all for me.....

Although our weather is cold again, I wasn't able to stay away from my menthol stash, (I'm hopelessly addicted!) and I enjoyed a wonderful shave with this Williams Menthol cream. The lather is so rich and thick, the scent is beautiful, and the menthol effect is potent. The Barbon aftershave is another super face-freezer with fabulous skincare.

Nice smooth shave today BBS no burn,I had to skip yesterdays shave due to a lil burn on my neck.The slant hammer really likes these Voskhods. I've been getting smooth and efficent shaves,I think I'll keep using the Voskhods in this razor.

 

Just one correction, that is an Omega professional in your picture.

 

No shave for me today, as the irritation from yesterday's dissapointing shave was more than I thought.

The razor was put through the same progression as yesterday's but with the purple hone instead on the greenish one. Another great shave.

I'm using my Turkish No. 6 for a "pre-lather" to help break it in, and to see how letting lather sit on my face for 2 minutes prior to shaving affects the shave. Yes, I could just use my 1st pass lather for this, but I want to do it this way. One thing I learned is that I still need to use a strongly scented soap or cream with the horsehair brush because of the lingering funk. Maca Root SC is too mild for this. I could not take 3 passes with it as is. The first pass lather was very nice, however.

This is my first time with a Sputnik blade. It felt good while shaving but left me with some mild burn all over. Time to concentrate on technique. It also did not shave as close as the Voskhod blade. Considering the cost and performance, I won't be stocking up on these, but I'll use what I have until they're gone.

A late morning shave, they are letting me go into work late so they can beat me like a pinata tonight.
I listened to snooks elgin, Dr John, and Memphis slim for this cool shave.

This was a three pass with a little touchup on the jawline. DFS+++, just too good to speak about. With the good music I just took my time for a fantastic relaxing shave. Shame I have to go into work and ruin it all.
