    I hear ya-I use my SE razors about every 2-3 weeks-I have to go super slow to avoid macerating myself. The Gem G-bar is the gentle one for me-I think it's similar to the 1912. I just got myself a Gem Jr. at an antique shop yesterday but have not yet tried it.

    Tuesday morning shave here in the Tropics:

    * Biotherm face wash
    * Fitjar Fjellheim shave cream
    * Kent BK2 Grey Badger
    * 6/8 Le Grelot 1/4 hollow with pink ivory scales
    * Nivea for Men AS Balm

    Overall not a bad shave, with the end-result being however not as smooth as hoped for. I think it's time to touch-up of the blade on the Belgian Blue.

    SOTD Monday - No Shave. Tuesday March 30, 2010

    Razor: 4/8 Barbers Best
    Soap/Mug: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush: Custom Rosewood Badger
    ASB: Nivea Replenishing
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Musk

    After honing and stroping the blade had a keener edge. It was in need of some honing as I got it from an Antique Shop for $8. bucks. My technique still is in the developing stage but I did get a closer shave and did 3 passes. Still have some problem areas like the side of my neck (where the big muscle juts out; I don't know the proper name of it). That area I can't get a flat surface to get the blade action I need to get the whiskers close. I know it's my technique and I'm working on it but the multiple passes and blade buffing I'm doing is causing irritation (some sting with the AV). I will keep at it and gain some skill. With a sharp blade and experience I'll get it down pat. :rolleyes:

    Great shaves shown by all yesterday and today Gentlemen! :D

    Merkur 23C
    Super Iridium
    Simfix Grosvenor LE Two Band Super
    Cyril Salter SS
    Dickinson’s Witch Hazel
    Pashana A/S Splash

    Everything worked together this morning to produce an extremely fine shave. The brand new Grosvenor LE worked great right out of the box, and I expect that a little breaking in will make it even better. And the Super Iridium seems to be the Eveready Bunny of razor blades--this was shave #10 on this blade and I think it’s capable of a couple more. I find 10-12 good shaves per blade pretty typical of the Iridium, regardless of the razor used.

    The Pashana A/S was, as usual, an excellent finish.

    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: Shavemac D01 Horn
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Cream: Irisch Moos Shave Stick
    A/S: GFT Spanish Leather

    I do not use my 34C very often but I should...it really is a nice razor. The 34C & Iridium combo helped out by the luxurious lather of Irisch Moos teamed up to provide an irritation free BBS shave. I dusted off the Spanish Leather and was reminded how much I enjoy it as well.

    • Kiss my Face mint SC
    • GEM Micromatic
    • Gem Personna blade
    • 25mm EJ silvertip
    • icy tap-water splash
    • Pinaud Clubman AS

    By far the best shave I have ever gotten with the Micromatic. Good and close with next to no irritation. It is almost 10pm and I shaved at 6am and can just now feel the stubble. Not bad, not bad at all. I think I'm figuring the Micromatic out. We'll have to see in a few hours! :D

    Merkur Classic
    Personna (day1)
    Witch Hazel
    Florida Water EdT

    Now that I've used some vintage Gillettes, I'm becoming less and less satisfied with my Merkur. It was a great transition razor from cartriages to DE, but it just doesn't seem to give me the close shave without any fuss that my NEW or Super Adjustable give me.
