Lyndon, I am curious because a Tech is as you say a mild razor. I have a very tough beard, yet the Super Speed I have gives me awesome, smooth, comfortable shaves and it's very mild. I wonder if the Tech is as mild as a Super Speed. :)

Yes and no. I have not bought a 60s Tech yet, but I can tell you the 50s Tech is a tad more aggressive than the 40s Tech.
Compared to my B-3 Super Speed, the B-3 Tech is a tad more aggressive, but the late 40s Tech is less than either of the 50s models.
I believe a blade match makes the difference. I had been using Feathers, and just switched to Kroger Personnas.
The shave is so nice with the Super Speed, I have not had the desire to try them in the Techs.

I used my new injector today. Man does it bite! It shaves nothing like my other G injector. This one feels a lot like my Feather injector, where all you feel is pretty much blade and nothing else. The first pass was fine, but when I went XTG, the blood came...my upper lip still hurts

Anyway, it sure is a beauty though...I can't wait to tame it! :)

Ouchhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! My poor friend - hopefully you will soon be healed and all will be well. By the way, love to you, Christina, Ruby, and the others kids from Corinne, myself, and Ilana! :)

Thanks Jeff! I hope you and your family are well also! Ruby is doing great and has eaten more in the last day and a half, than she did in hospital! It doesn't sound like much but her feedings in the NICU were about 30 mL / 3-4 hours (she just wouldn't take more than that...no matter how much we encouraged her), but now she is drinking more than double that per feeding! :D

After 2 recent shaves with the mild Merkur 33c while away from home, I needed something with much more bite. Enter the Gillette old, circa 1908-21, OC 3 piece (my first use).

What a marvellous razor. This baby may be 100 yo. Great blade exposure. Angle was easy to get right. 2 passes and I was pretty done. Some minor touch ups for a super smooth result.

Hey Jeff, I suspect the Tech razor would give you a shave that is very similar to one with the Super Speed. I too have very hard whiskers and I find that I get the easiest and most comfortable shave by using the combination of a mild razor and a very sharp blade. My favorite all-round modern razor head is the one on the Edwin Jagger razors such as my DE89L. It is absolutely awesome! If you have a chance to try either of those razors, I would say go for it!

    Regards, Lyndon

Had to give the Fat Boy a go today. I just got it back from being re-plated and I was eager to use it. I am really pleased with the look of the razor. I used a sample of MB soap today. The soap performed very well, but I think I felt a bit of burning. I will try it again soon to find out for sure. The big H.I.S synthetic brush really works well with soaps. I did the three normal passes on a setting of 5, 4 and 3 for a very close and comfortable shave.

This fabulous shave was enough to freeze somebody's face off - the Axe Chilled facial wash began the icy action, the Aquabarba cream (from Tunisia) really hits with a great menthol punch, and the 444 and the Rubby Dubby Dub can almost cause you to see your breath - it feels friggin awesome! ;) :D

I have not seen mention of one of these treasures for quite some time, so I thought I'd break mine out for a shave.

Say hello to my 103 year old GEM Lather Catcher! :) This little beauty was the perfect choice after yesterday's bloody fight with the injector. It is very mild and yet provides amazingly close and smooth shaves. I felt no irritation after today's Shave, only a smooth face!
