I didn't have a lot of time this morning, and I really didn't need to shave, but I really wanted to. So after my hot shower, I face lathered some VDH unscented soap with a little pure badger brush, and did two passes with my Shick Injector L1 (XTG & ATG). I then splashed on a little Floid Blue, admired my DFS and I'm ready to face the world!

Another wonderful face-freezing shave this morning - the Gillette Menthol cream from France smells real nice, and the lather and cooling sensation are awesome. The Alcolado Glacial is every bit as frigid as Osage Rub, and it smells nicer. ;) :D

    Tuesday

    Hot Shower (soak brush,Semogue 620)
    Proraso PrePost cream
    TOB Avocado shave cream
    Face: R41/Red IP (1)
    Head: OCMM/Gem Blue Star (4)
    Cold Water Rinse
Monster Block Alum (clean brush, razors, police area)
    Cold Water Rinse
Pitralon Classic mixed with a pea sized amount of 444

I got my r41 yesterday and decided to give it a spin today on my face.I have to say the r41 is not the monster I thought it would be,oh it's aggressive and it's not for beginners and certainly it's not to be used if you are in a rush. But I got a great shave from it today and it was surprisingly smooth once I got the angle right.I did a 2 pass WTG and 1 pass ATG,no weepers,BBS.No razor burn either, altho one spot on my neck stung a bit when I applied the Monster Block Alum.
I wasn't crazy enough to do a head shave with it at least not for a few more runs on my face.In the spirit of SE week I used the OCMM on Thunderdome 1 pass ATG,BBS.The OCMM is a great razor no question about it.

    Shick Injector - L
    Schick Blade
    The Colonel
    Proraso PreShave
    Proraso Green Soap
    Proraso AS

The shave prep this morning was the hot towel treatment combined with the preshave. I didn't even soak the brush or soap at all. However the shave that resulted was very fine. I did two quick passes and received a DFS+! The Proraso this morning had never felt better! It was as I was rubbing ice all over my face! I loved it!

    Have a good day everyone!

    Not going to lie...

This morning was awful! :angry019: I said I was going to wait until Wednesday to try the R41, but I couldn't resist. I knew I should have waited but the Muhle was glistening on my vanity.

I made 2 mistakes this morning, I used a new razor and a new soap. Yup, I gave a go to MWF. Did not get the soap to water ration right.

My skin is so irritated right now and I feel like it was my first time shaving ever. I didn't slice myself open, but did have a few weepers. My alum and A/S let me know this morning I didn't do a good job.

I think I will really give tomorrow a break and try it again on Thursday.

    Pre: TSD Iced SZ
    Blade: Feather
    Razor: Muhle R41
    Soap: MWF
    Brush: Omega Boar
    A/S: Floid Blue

    Tuesday!

Pre: Hot Shower, Tabac Cream + Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 23c
    Blade: Polsilver (5.5)
    Soap: Proraso White
    Brush: Omega 10005
Post: Thayers WH, Cold Rinse, RSC ASB, Proraso ASB

I decided, after my last bad shave with the Proraso and a Treet Classic, to go with one of those variables in this one. Turns out the culprit was the blade. Todays shave, even with a Polsilver that has had 5.5 4+ pass shaves, was much better than the last. Excellent lather from the Proraso, and a very smooth, comfortable, all-around shave. I would almost call it BBS, but not quite, and thats good enough for me. I have no reason to strive for anything better than excellent!

    Have a good day all!

I feel for you Steve. Why is that always the case? You nick yourself with the straight and you look at it and it doesn't look bad, bleeds a little, but no biggie. Then the next day it looks like you were slashed in your sleep or something and if you happen to shave over it and open it up, like you did......... forget about it.

1912 Gem Jr SE razor w/ Gem blade,
    Omega 10005 boar bristle brush,
MWF shaving soap w/ warm water lather,
finish with cold water rinse for a DFS!

Although the Gem blade tugged a bit, 3 passes for a DFS!

    Tuesday

Pre-shave: TSD ISZ Pre-shave balm and a hot shower
    Soap: TSD Cedarwood
Brush: Handmade Firehouse Pottery with a 22mm Silvertip
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Blade: GEM Personna
Post-shave: warm water rinse, cold water rinse, alum block, cold water rinse, witch hazel
    A/S: Clubman Citrus Musk
    Moisturizer: L'Oreal Men's Expert Vita Lift w/ SFP 15

A fantastic 2-pass + touch-ups DFS+ I haven't used the 1912 in a little while, but it excelled this morning. I felt like the blade was on it's last leg and even thought about changing it midway through, but I stuck with it and it pulled through. It was my first time using the TSD Cedarwood and if you like cedar you will love this soap. It is pretty strong scented and smells like you just pulled out the saw and cut up some planks of cedar right there in the bathroom.

Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar
Lather: BlueBeards Revenge MWF - face lather
    Brush: Semogue 1250
    Razor: Gem OCMM
Blade: Ted Pella PTFE (2); 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum

The OCMM delivers a fantastic shave again. Definitely my favorite SE, but I'll have to admit that the Sledgehammer Slant is giving it a run for the money to be my favorite razor overall. Second day straight with the 1250 and it just doesn't hold lather like my badgers do. I had to revisit the puck between pass 2-3 to thicken up the lather.

The DVH is an excellent soap IMO. Very easy to lather and I really enjoy the scent, of both the original and the "extra fris".

    Tuesday!

Skipped a day in SE week to try one of the Personna blades Pat PIF-ed and which arrived yesterday.

    • Prep: hot water splash, hot washing cloth
    • Music: The Cure, Seventeen Seconds
    • Brush; DVH boar :love029::love029::love029:
    • Cream: Palmolive :love029:
    • Razor: Gillette Flare Tip Rocket :love029::love029::love029:
    • Blade: Personna :love029::love029::love029: A BIG THANKS, PAT!!
    • Shave: 3-pass + touch-up
    • Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse

The Palmolive was a first as well. I guess I used a wee bit too much of it for one shave, but still: great lather. Nice 'n' creamy!

And then the Personna in the Rocket! Man, I tell you, the hairs didn't stand a chance! It felt as if they ran from the blade! An absolute and definite BBS! It is now 14 hours later and only a few hairs dare to pop up. The rest is nowhere to be found. I'm smoother now than what I call a standard DFS! WEEHEE! On a scale to ten this is at least fifteen :)
