Shaved earlier this morning but haven't been able to post until now. This was a really close shave with the Schick injector. Nice DFS results. The Cahaba Blues soap from Country Club is really nice stuff. Complex scent and terrific performance.

I am continuing with a cold water trial. It's been almost a week now. My face has felt really good this week and the irritation has been at a minimum. I did have a few more weepers than normal this week but I think that was due to the blade. I'm going to continue the cold water regimen and see where it leads.

No nicks or weepers today, but I did have a little irritation on my chin area, but it cleared up in a just a little while. This was a nice, close, enjoyable shave.

I have read on here, that some of you do a " cold water shave" what does that mean?

 

We shave with cold water instead of hot or warm. That goes for everything... Face wash, lather, face wetting between passes...everything.

 

Some people swear by the cold shaves. I am trying it out for the moment and like it so far. It is quite a different feel or experience from hot water, at least in my experience. YMMV, etc. I think it helps mitigate irritation in my case.

I agree! It's quite invigorating and I like the feel of the cold water especially as the weather is warming up.

 

I have found that it even makes menthol soaps feel better!

For my first go with the Rapira I am happy. I threw a two day beard at it and it mowed it down. I tried a new pattern today, I first went WTG. For the second pass I went from right to left on the right side of my face and left to right on the left side. My third pass I flipped it and went left to right on the right side and right to left on the left. I really like the results, a DFS bordering on BBS if not for two problem areas. There was some irritation but not enough that the Thayers didn't calm it down. Finished up with the Nivea ASB. The Arko lathered like crazy in my new bowl but I'm unsure about it's protection. I'm going to do the same shave next time but try another soap. Have a great day folks!

When discussing Gem razors most talk about the OCMM and seldom my favourite the Clog Pruf. It's the sweet spot in my books between the mild bullet tip and the aggressive open comb.

Edit: Did not like the look of the stained case so ended up dismantling it and cleaning it.
