PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: ATT R2 plate with MR1 handle
    BLADE: Astra SP (3)
    SOAP: Cella (from brick)
    BOWL: VDH
    BRUSH: Tweezerman
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try. Apply Gentleman Jon Alum block and rinse/wash off after a minute or two!

Comments: Shave was very good and very close, I got a DFS with no problems and almost a BBS except just a spot on the neck! I decided to revisit the R2 since it has been awhile since I used it. It works very well but not quite as smooth/easy to use as the M2 plate. Soap was great and I never have any issues with the Cella! The lather, protection and feel throughout the shave and the post shave feel is always very good. One weeper and just a bit of irritation based on the alum block. A very good shave today!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

    Rudy Vey Shavemac two-band silvertip
    Le Père Lucien shave soap
    One pass plus touch-ups
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel and unrefined shea butter

This was my first shave with the LPL. I ran out of lather after the first pass and called it a day. I'm sure it was due to operator error, so I'll try again tomorrow!

    Stay sharp!

I know it's been brought up around here before but I noticed you do a cold water shave every time I've seen you post in SOTD. I've used cold water the last 3 shaves and have had almost no irritation on my neck which I normally have some. Haven't given up on hot water yet... Do you ever go back to hot water?

I actually have a Sharp Durablade in my razor (on shave six I think), and it's been very good to me. It is admittedly getting a little rough, but hey, 6 shaves is respectable. I wont rank them with Crown by Lord, which are my favorites and give me a BBS shave with zero irritation. But they're a pretty good blade from what I've seen so far. In fairness though, I'm only 1 blade into the pack. lol

The Glacial Wintergreen trio gave me such frigid, beautifully-scented, eye-tearing pleasure and a hell of a great shave. The Dorco blade, however is getting duller and duller. It may have to be changed.

today's shave was very nice. the soc (another box tour trade) did very well. Cella is great smelling and performing lather. the fatboy(like going home) made three fine passes for a comfy bbs shave. finished with iced Brut.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

The last time I did a hot water shave was in January. I used a shaving scuttle I pieced together.
    http://jrshaving.blogspot.com/2015/01/shave-of-day-125.html
I am saving water, electricity, and irritation. Why would I go back? I am thinking of piffing my home made scuttle at some point.

    Maggard's Day Tomorrow
I am so excited to go to the meet up at Maggard's tomorrow that I decided to use their excellent London Barbershop combo today. I am not disappointed. The Colonel whipped up optimal lather to set up my stubble for a visit from my New LC, which removed them from my face in comfort. The MLB aftershave has is all good - no burn, just face friendly goodness wrapped in a nostalgic scent that reminds me of barbershop visits with my Dad when I was a kid.

SOTD for today May 15th. I finally put the Barbasol away (for a while anyway) after using for it 3 straight days and went back to the brush and soap.

Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man w/SOC Boar (face lather)
Razor: Schick Krona w/Rapira Swede (5)
Post: Dickinson's Witch Hazel followed by Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Aftershave: Clubman Vanilla

    2-passes (WTG & XTG) for a CCS.

This was my first time using a Rapira Swede and it got a little dull toward the end of the shave (5). However, all in all a good shave. Have a nice weekend gents..........
