SoS - Thursday, May 15, 2014 Hot shower Prep: Lime & Tea Tree PSO Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm synthetic Soap: DR Harris Arlington Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L Blade: Super-Max Ti (4) Post: Nivea Sensitive PSB Aftershave: Speick ASL Nice, 3 pass shave. Some irritation on my neck. That'll be the end of the Super-Max, but it was good while it lasted. I may have to consider ordering a larger quantity, as this blade was a pleasant surprise.
What a shave today. Prep: hot shower, Neutrogena Face Wash. Brush: Turkish #6 Brush. Razor: '62 Gillette Slim set on 7 for the first pass, 3 for the second pass. Blade: Gillette Super Thin from Thailand. Cream: Palmolive Menthol. Post: cold water rinse, Fine American Blend Aftershave. Guys, there was one casualty during this shave. My Turkish #6 Brush broke. The knot fell out as I was rinsing it. I guess I need to get my hands on a few more or an Omega. Palmolive Menthol-Menthol - that stuff is my favorite. It's awesome. The Gillette Super Thin was a decent blade. I got some burning above my Adam's apple, but that area gives me trouble sometimes. Now for the Fine Aftershave American Blend. Wow! This stuff is awesome! I have the LE Razorock XXX AS by Fine, but I think I like American Blend more. It toned my skin really well, smells amazing, goes on light, and has menthol! I think I will get every scent of Fine.
Razor: GEM Junior Blade: Treet Brush: Semogue 830 Lather: 3p (bowl lathered) Very comfortable SAS. First time in a while with the Treets. They're noisier than the stainless blades. SEs in general are noisy- something I've grown to really enjoy and miss when it's not there. The sound of hairs just being obliterated. On a side note I'm thinking of switching back to bowl lathering... Waste is something I detest and face lathering, though great, I always have to go back to the puck after each pass.
Friday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Sharp day 5 Stirling Glacial Spearmint SS Thayers Witch Hazel Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Aramis EdT My Glacial Spearmint soap sample is winding down but I'll definitely be ordering it again soon from Rod. The scent is awesome, and although this seems to be the only Glacial soap which requires a bit of effort to get a rich lather it still performs very nicely. Its menthol blast is off the charts and it gives perfect skincare like the two other Glacials. The witch hazel and the Penguin were a delightful finish to such a great shave. Have a nice weekend, folks!
Coconut Bay Friday Another great shave with Synergy. I love the Coconut Bay scent and the near optimal performance. The large puck and brilliant chemistry make lathering this gem easy and satisfying. I just put a little hot water on top and the essential oils awaken and fill my den with goodness. The Old Type - Personna combo worked smoothly again, and Krampert's provided an excellent finish. Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol Soap: HTGAM Synergy Coconut Bay Brush: HIS Razor: Gillette Old Type Blade: Personna Lab Blue AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Bay Rum

5/16/14 Prep: Warm wash with Stirling Barbershop then PSO then face lather with Dr. Tim's homemade Bay Rum soap - let set on face for 4 minutes. Lather: Dr. Tim's Bay Rum soap - took small puck sliver and put in scuttle. Built very slick and creamy warm lather Brush: V-L 16031M horsehair Razor: Weber PH (2 passes), Gillette Ball End Tech (1 pass) Blades: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (2 passes - 6th shave), Feather (1 pass - 2nd shave) Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave I really was pondering how to use the remnants of the puck I received from @Dr. Tim Wilkins. I first just rubbed it on my wet face and lathered up and then decided to let that lather soak on my whiskers. I then took the remnant and put it in my scuttle and just got after lathering. The thick and creamy lather looked good. A little water here and there and it was soon shiny and smooth. Painted it on and had a great first pass. Rinsed and 2nd pass told me that the blade in the Weber was done, so I grabbed my Tech and finished up pass 3. Added minor touch up to the neck line and finished off with the manly scent of Bay Rum! I'll get about 1 more shave from this sliver of soap. Thanks Tim for making it and sharing it.
