Today's shave was optimum. Lather great, three passes great, finish great.
Did y'all notice use of alum gives dry mouth? I'm not eating the stuff, but it makes my mouth dry.

The Polsilver Super Iridium is the 2nd blade I have tried with this antique razor and it seems to be a more comfortable shave and just as smooth as the Voskhod Teflon Coated blade. I will start testing the Gillette series of blades on subsequent shaves.

 

It's either a fluke that I survived this menthol bombardment, or I'm just tough because I went all-out this morning. I started a brand-new Glacial Obsidian tub from yes, 2015 and I swear that I had better lather from it than the one I had before. It lathered like a charm and it's lovely anise scent filled my bathroom. The freeze clobbered me right away and it felt so good. The matching balm and the Arctique are both in a class by themselves. Three passes did the job beautifully!

In anticipation of the arrival of my Rockwell this afternoon, I did a head shave last night with my favorite razor -- face shave this morning -- so as to have a good basis for comparison with the Rockwell head shave I'll do tonight. Bakelite Shake Sharp, My Father's Face #12 & 35 shave oil. Pretty high bar for the Rockwell, the ease with which I get to dolphin BBS on my head with Shakes is unmatched. Happy anniversary Blonde on Blonde.
