Friday: Omega Wooden Handle Ming Shi TTO/new Wilkinson Sword Italian Palmolive Menthol-SC :happy005 :happy108 :anifrozen :anifrozen Lubriderm unscented moisturizer Alcolado Glacial-Menthol Splash :happy005 :happy108 :anifrozen :anifrozen Black Garter-Cologne It's been a long time since I shaved with my Ming Shi, and I'm going to start using it again, because it's a very good razor. It's more aggressive than a Goodfella, but it's still mild enough for anybody who's in a hurry, and wants a good shave.
"Hurry" and "good shave" just don't go together for me. Part of what makes a good shave for me is being able to take my time and enjoy it. I would feel cheated if I had to hurry, and that would take it out of what I define as part of a good shave. But that's me. I understand that sometimes you do what you gotta do.
Friday Boker King Cutter 6/8ths, full hollow, spike point Omega Professional boar Florena s/c Brut a/s Brut e de c I've avoided Brut for a long time. When I was a kid I took over an old bottle of the stuff from my father, who rarely used aftershave, and what I remember is a sharp, tinny smell that I hated immediately. It must have been really old, because what came out of the bottles I just bought is something very like Pinaud Clubman; a pleasing scent of flowers and talc. I'm glad I tried it again. goshawk
Friday, May 21, 2010 Razor: Jaggerooney Blade: Super Iridium Brush: Grosvenor LE Soap: Cella A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Speick Splash A great shave this morning, using one of my favorite soaps. The Iridium blade, on its 11th shave, smoothly and comfortably wiped the stubble from my face and the WH/Speick provided a very appropriate finish. If Cella were packaged in a nicely grained Olivewood bowl, perhaps with a seal proclaiming a warrant to a past king of Italy, I think it could sell in the $35 range. Personally, I'm glad that it is available in the very practical, Ferrari-red pot for less than $15. Yes, I would like to see the diameter of the pot increased slightly and the almond scent given a boost. However, I tend to forget about these little details when enjoying the very nice shaves that Cella always provides.
Friday 5/21 . . . Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel Brush: C&E BBB Cream: TSD Bamboo & Teak Razor: '22 Gillette NEW Standard - Silver Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge DE (shave 8 ) Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner & Clubman Club Complete ASB EDT: TSD Bamboo & Teak EDT Result: Fine, fine, BBS shave. The 7 O'Clocks just go on and on forever. The NEW Standard is a bit different from my SE & Injector razors in that it is heavy, much heavier than the others which I use 3 out of 4 days a week. I enjoy the heavier razors from time to time. The scent of the EDT is wonderful and the TSD cream made a great lather providing a slick and yet cushioned surface for my shave.

Yeh 'Hawk, I can remember Brute from the "Old Days" back in the 60's & 70's when I used it and it smelled a lot heavier than the stuff today. My cousin used to do the "Mandom" thing with it and shower with it. It was almost sickening sweet to me. :sick007 I like the Brute of today, much milder and not as sweet. The old stuff stuck with you all day like you'd been skunked! :laugh042

Way to go with the str8! I'll be getting mine back from Glen "gssixgun" any day now, then I'll be able to claim, "My first str8 shave". As for the coffee, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. As I've told you, it's not terribly expensive, at least to start, and, quite literally, as easy as making popcorn. And you just can't beat the freshest coffee you could ever have!
