SOTD 3rd May 2011 Lijun&1980 Finest Kai Shavette EJ DE86 Palmolive Classic Fcuk No.1 Aftershave Second try with the Kai Shavette. Started off with the safety comb on but I am not sure if I am shaving anything off at all so I removed it after a while. Manage to do a WTG pass with it but felt the blade digging into the skin the moment I tried to do the XTG pass. So I completed the XTG and ATG passes with my EJ DE86. Not a bad experience, but got to practice more before I can master shaving with a straight edge razor.
Round 2 straight shaving, I will admit I was a little nervous. Neutrogena razor defense face scrub Omega 10005 Super speed w/ Voskhod 9/16 Wade and Butcher Klar, proraso, and 1 drop m-bomb mix Thayers witch hazel w/ aloe, folowed by Speick aftershave I was still nervous about my shave as my first shave was semi rough so I wanted to make sure I had a great lather. I started with a face lather of klar then added a little proraso and a drop of m-bomb and wow what a lather. Did first pass with the super speed, 2 passes with the straight, and a final touch up pass with the super speed. I had one nice and 2 weepers but not bad and overall a lot better shave.

Tuesday, May 03, 2011 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: EJ Chatsworth Blade: Treet Dura Sharp Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Soap: P.160 Tipo Morbido A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Splash An exceedingly close shave today--maybe too close, because I received two or three weepers. I face lathered, rather than my usual bowl lathering, and I think I don't get quite as good a lather when face lathering (or maybe I don't take enough time to properly develop the lather). My face did not feel irritated, and the weepers were erased with the witch hazel, revealing a very smooth (and still intact) face. The Ogallala BR, S & C is a little "smokey" for my taste (I prefer the other Ogallala scents), but still a very pleasant finish.

Razor: R. Schofield , old hall st, Liverpool Brush: Vie Long Horsehair, (small knot tall loft, a little floppy) Soap: MWF jammed into an old Spice mug AS: Osaga Rub (kicked up with a few extra menthol crystals) ASB: Avon (a very nice ASB, it's so cheap it's almost free) Great DFS today. The Wool fat took a little more work with this soft, a little on the floppy side Vie Long horsehair. It wasn't the explosive lather I've been getting with a firmer backbone brush. Note to self, MWF needs a brush with backbone to lather easily. Great shaves today, Gentlemen.

First shave with the fatboy, and I have to say it did great, but I like the longer handle on my Progress more, still I'll be keeping this in the rotation for now. The 404 still has a bit of breaking in, but its coming along nicely. The Blue Juniper is so far my favorite scent.
