The Schick eXtreme 3 is a great disposable, I used it for years until I started the "craze". But I get a dfs, too mild for bbs... I do the 3 pass method, very little pressure, I think folks who don't re-lather for multiple passes and push a disposable for weeks of shaving get in trouble. even before I learned the whisker reduction, multi pass method I always used fairly fresh cartridges and would re-lather with barbosol.... only difference now is a bbs vs a dfs, oh yeah and I have spent lots of money on old and new safety razors, and bought way too many epensive soaps . hehe

Yes Sammy, that zy oc/cc combo is amazing! I got it on ebay for like 6 bucks free shipping from china. the handle was a faux ivory plastic thing that did not screw in tight and was loose so I tossed it, I have plenty of handles but I learned not to use the really heavy handles since this does bite. But for 6 bucks it is one of my best DE shaves, another shaver i know from a G+ group compared it to the mule r41 performance wise. For mugs, I really recommend amazon prime photos, if u have prime - photo storage is unlimited and ez to make a mug, I did a regular and a menthol mug.

Tonight's shave was with an "Old English Razor". I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. Zero issues.

HELP SAVE MY 4711/NEROLI SHAVE KIT! I am nearly out of the PAA "11235" shave soap! With the help of TobyC finding a link through Black Diamond Shaving in another thread, I managed to place an order for......just 'ONE' tub of soap, but the site would not allow any more orders for it and lists it as 'SOLD OUT' after my order for what seems to be, the LAST tub. If anyone can find another seller or if you have an extra tub or two or three, please let me know.

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post- Alum, Styptic

Third shave on the Curley blade and I just left the Fatboy on 9. It was a better shave on 9 than 6, so no reason to go backwards any. Soap Commander for the lather with the Stirling brush and it was as slick and fine as ever. No issues there.

I noticed an immediate difference from yesterday's shave. That incremental loss of smoothness showed its hand early in the first pass. It wasn't horrible, just not as smooth as yesterday. From being an ok shave to a shave that you know isn't going to get any better. First pass WTG wasn't too bad and still pretty effective. On the XTG pass I found myself working harder on my neck to get it to work up to par. And, when you work harder you generally add a little pressure and that was enough to nick myself. I'm putting that blood right on the blade. Yes, I added pressure, but the failing blade created the need. That buck is passed.

Alum was warming up this shave all over and the styptic on the nick gave the final burn effect. The finish is still DFS, but nowhere near BBS. I'd say this blade is good for two shaves, three if you need it, but I wouldn't push it any further than that.

My final take on the blade for this trial - definitely a surprise since it didn't just SUCK. That's a positive for any Chinese blade. If it had stayed consistent on this shave from yesterday's shave I might have even raved a bit. Don't know many, if any, Chinese blades that can go three shaves, especially consistently. The Curley had the chance but just isn't up to the task. So, a pretty average "C" grade for this one. Use it once or twice and you can get a very nice shave. Beyond that, and I fear it will just get worse, and accelerate the process.

Red, White, or Green? I've been enjoying the Green of late. Gives a great menthol/eucalyptus start to my shave. Just might add slickness to the lather, too.

Started with the eclipse but the 3 day growth was too much for the used kai blade. I pulled out the R41 to assist end result was a great bbs shave!
