As a matter of fact it seems a bit too loose for my habits. And I never used straight edges...
    But just wanted to understand.
I know many prefer a watery lather!

Perhaps, I misspoke. Lather like this will provide the best slickness for ANY type of shave, DE, SE or SR. Why don't you give it a try and report to us your results. Keep in mind that water must be added very slowly.

I'm not sure where I read it, but the writing cited that testing had been done to see what aids a blade in the cutting of hair.

The effective component was water. Soap did not aid a blade in the cutting of hair according to this source.

FWIW, I never tried to dig up the story. I viewed it as matter of preference. I figured you should be happy with what you use, whatever that is.

    Have liberty, shave freedom!

    Friday's Shave

    zcws.jpg

    Cold Water Rinse
    Morning TOST
    Oscar11 Synthetic
    47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Barbasol Brisk

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Morning TOST Shave Soap face lathered well with the Oscar11 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the 47 Gillette Aristocrat razor with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol Brisk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Of course: too many a time I do things in an un-conventional way, but following an advice won't hurt and i might discover a better way of shaving.

I don't mean to do a plug for the Original Rise Shaving Cream, but I'm gonna do it anyway. You could do a shave with the Rise alone(that is, minus the water)as was shown in the ads by football players Dick Butkus and Andy Robustelli, and basketball player Jerry Lucas. I wonder if we now know that if you're going to skip water usage, Rise works, but shaving soap doesn't????

That L.A. shaving soap(at least the kind you had for your shave)looks quite inviting.

Isn't the main ingredient in canned foam water.

In fact, I see that it IS. But is that "ingredient water" warm or cold? Mr. Cawtuh, I do believe we are on to something.
